Beautiful 40. Did you buy this one from Jason Carlisle a while back? I think I remember it when it was unrestored.
Yes, it is the same truck indeed! Jason bought it from the estate of John Denver sometime in 2017 and worked on bringing it back to life, changing out the fuel tank and rebuilding the carburetor. Then in 2018 he sold it to some guy who had the brakes upgraded to disc brakes, recovered the front seats, replaced the winch with an 8274 plus some other minor fixes. Then that guy sold it to the young man who eventually sold it to me. Strangely, he was not a Cruiserhead like the rest of us, just some random guy who thought he could use it to impress the opposite sex. So he went about fixing up the interior exclusively. I am assuming he figured that’s all the girls would see? Anyway, for the three years he had it, he did nothing other than improve the interior. He powder coated the seat rails, repainted the floors, recovered the rear jump seats and replaced the sun visors. So all in all the interior looks pretty decent. The engine runs strong and the transmission works well. The only mechanical issue I noted is that it backfires under deceleration, but goes away once the engine is fully warmed up. I’ve been told it needs to be re-jetted? Aside from addressing that by someone who knows how to adjust a carburetor, I plan on changing the suspension to something a little more forgiving and maybe converting it to power steering at some point.

Here's my 1975 on the day I got her. She used to belong to John Denver, but now she's all mine. I was not a big fan of yellow, but now I am 100% in love. As others have stated, it is just such an iconic looking vehicle. View attachment 3970141

All I can say is FAR OUT!

Guess at this date girls would be more impressed by the 40 itself over John Denver, who they probably never heard of.
