I would definitely check the main engine harness near the EGR, they are known to melt.
Hard to get photos but there is definitely some melting going on. It hasn’t broken the surface but any melting at all suggests posible damage underneath. Open to any suggestions or links to good ride up on the best way to inspect/repair this.

I would be concerned about that U shaped melting spot right above the EGR tube. Even though it doesn't look as bad as mine you can't be too careful.

As far as right ups, there might be one but the real only way to fix it is to replace the whole harness with a known good one. Check the part out section of the classifieds to locate one as they are no longer available. Keep your original one and repair it as you have time. Solder the connections is the best way to fix the splices.

To check the harness I would start the car up, let it get to operating temp and then move the harness around to see if there are changes to the way it runs.

That’s the same spot i noticed. I will try moving it and maybe sticking something to shield the heat temporarily to see if that helps. If no change is found I’ll have to dig more into the harness.

I am thinking of getting something like the picture below to secure the harness using the valve cover bolts.

As far as protecting the harness itself I would use this.

Dobinsons MRAs showed up and WOW they are awesome. It is a huge improvement over my L shocks. Adjusted them on the road for about a week before I took them out for their first test run at five five-mile pass only for the one POS aftermarket brake line the PO put on to burst. Was able to clamp the line off and limp it home (though I took out a fender flare on a rock on the way out  ) But for that half hour before It blew I was blown away with how well they handled the bumps. Put on some new slee stainless lines on thursday.

Currently, the truck isn't running as in my late-night stupidity I unscrewed the screws on the VAF. Nothing can describe what I felt when I realized what I had done. So now while I wait for my new VAF to show up (pulled from a 94 in California. hoping its going to work) I've been getting some of the other projects out of the way. I was able to go down to Japanese auto wrecking in Lehi Utah where fortunately they had a fender flare for a 93-94 in excellent condition(still has the rubber trim on it) I also snagged a new door card for my driver's door as mine is falling apart.

Still stuck on the cutting-out issue. I still think it's the harness though disconnecting the egr has not made a difference so the damage is done already. Still chasing the 02 sensor code too, which I think is due to corrosion on the harness side connector—probably going to have to replace it. I want to see if I can kill the CEL just to cross one more possible cause of the cutting-out issue.

Tonight I detailed the interior as best I could to make myself feel better about its undrivable state.
