I'm doing the exhaust on my 1985 pickup and was looking for muffler suggestions. The truck has a 22RE and an LC Engineering header. I was thinking of a Flowmaster 40 or 60 series or a Magnaflow (but I'm not sure what size Magnaflow). I was planning on using 2 1/4" exhaust tubing. I am interested in 1. performance 2. durability 3. noise (I don't want the thing too loud, it's my daily driver). Thanks in advance for any help.

Howdy! I am running the OEM exhaust manifold and down pipe, then a Hi performance cat. Then into a Magnaflow, and out behind the rear DS tire. Sounds good, but not annoying, and not too noisy to cruise down the freeway with it. I guess I did not put enough support hangers in the middle of it, because after 6-8 years, it has cracked the welds going into the muffler. I need to get out my MIG and touch it up. John

Thanks John. Do you know what size Magnaflow you are using?

Howdy! It's a 2.5 pipe, and the muffler is about 14" long. My sone put all this together, so I am not sure about model/noise. It seems like there were 3 styles, loud, louder, and loudeset, and he got the middle one. HTH. John
