Ive got plans for Red Dwarf, But I dont need the roof, Which I think is in excellent shape minus a center roof support, Which Im assuming* can be fixed.
Im sure I would need to find the right person in need, Just didnt know if its worth trying to sell of just junk it.
Thanks

Yes I know :hillbilly:

I tried giving one away a few years ago, no takers and I still have it.

I need a roof for my 55.................in Phoenix.

I can take pic's later today if anyone would like.
My thoughts are to make a trailer out of Red Dwarf, Some of the parts I wanted didnt turn out to be quite what I planned.
So as they say...Dilemma into Dilemonade :hillbilly:

Many of the '55's in the south will have "roof rot". We found when doing our restoration https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj55-iron-...972-september-potm-cruiser-guy-guatemala.html that on our "original" rig from North Dakota there was extensive rust on the bottom but the roof was solid while a "donor" body from SoCal had extensive roof rot but a good (for a '55) lower body. We simply cut the two apart and used the best of both.

Have a rust free but cave in one here in NM as well. It can be popped out and supported.

I'd like some pix. I bought my 55 from the grandson of the original owner. It's been in AZ it's whole life. It's rust free, but was rolled. The roof and A pillars are the most damaged.
If you're not in a rush to get rid of it, maybe we could meet up this summer and I could buy it?

What are your plans for the trailer? I did this myself, still not totally done... but will be totally awsome!!!

I was basically going to remove the windows up and keep the B pillar back, Hopefully I can keep functional rear passenger doors, Then cap all the open body parts figure out a durable front section to box it in and figure out a lid so I can put a RTT on it.
Im sure there will be plenty of times I an going to change my mind about what to do.
Ive been doing a bit of chatting with Kurt about his build up.

Thanks for the pix. That roof looks great, especially compared to mine. I'll PM ya and we can figure something out.

In this pic, you can possibly tell where the roof sag's a little bit, If you push on the headliner the top moves without actually touching the roof, Good or bad?!? I dont know
But the area is just left of the white spots(bird poop)

If you replace the roof, keep the supposrts from the old roof and add them to the new roof to help keep things in place. That's what I did when I swapped roofs and I used the support with the dome light in the cargo area so I can add a dome light back there if I want.

Just push the supports hard against the roof (with the felt between the roof and the support to eliminate rattles) and weld to the sides.
