I just removed the 4-speed from my bj42 and I’ve got a 5-speed to replace it. I am stumped on how to disassemble the shifter in the 4-speed. I thought if I pulled the top plate off that the shifter would drop out but that’s not the case. I can’t find anything in any of my repair manuals that shows how the shifter goes together. How do I get this out of the 4 and into the 5?

Easier to remove with the top plate on the transmission. Need to push and twist the piece around the shift cane. It will pop up and pull out. It's spring loaded.

FYI the shift cane will not work on a five speed. Those have their own style.

H55f shift lever part number is 33530-60160 (at least that was the lever I got from Cdan with my new H55f).

Do you know of a good source for the shift cane?
