Just to continue the de-rail....while I was in the AF I flew in an F-15, F-18 (off a carrier), F-15, B-52, Blackhawks (Army/Navy/AF versions), s***hooks, CH46's (in Guam) and a MH53 Pave Low.

Night/Low level in a Blackhawk or MH-53 was the most unreal rides of my life. Nothing can compare to that.

It feels like being in the Tower of Terror in Disney.....

I'm gonna fly a C-17 tomorrow. Just sayin'...

Those Navy pussies would run out of ice cream in 5 days and all carrier ops would halt.

Says the guy who was in the military branch which often builds the golf course first then goes back to congress for more money to finish the runway.

But back on topic. $#*% movie but fun flying scenes. I was learning to fly light airplanes when this movie came out.

Another one from the 80s.

Nolen, how did you get to fly in so many airplanes.

Magnum RIP

Magnum P.I. Was the cats ass.
I cried when it ended.

Me too. Parts of Magnum were filmed on the Big Island. There's a burger joint in Kona where Tom Selleck liked to eat lunch. One of their burgers is called the Magnum Burger. When I was in Kona waiting on The Turtle I sat at Selleck's table, in his chair, ate a Magnum Burger, drank a bucket of Longboard Lager, and wept. I'll have to remember to include that in the rustbucket tale.

I am not sure how to say this without violating rule number 1 since this is chat but..
That opening scene of the Hughes 500 flying around the islands makes me think I could have more fun flying that for 30 mins than I have had in half a lifetime of flying fixed wing airplanes.

I am sure Lee can verify that. He has probably done that in Hawaii.

The opening scenes of Magnum and the theme music are enough to put a lump in a grown man's throat.

Funny you should mention the 500. Not in Hawaii, but I kinda borrowed a little Hughes 500-369D in Gulfport several years ago. My wife was horrified. Probably best I don't talk about it in a public forum. :o

Carriers my ass. I spent most of my fun time in the bush with the III Marine Amphibious Force, and I don't remember seein' any effin' ice cream. :flipoff2:

I had a altitude chamber certificate that I carried with me everywhere. I whored out to get on jets.

It was pretty easy. As an intel guy I was often the only non-rated officer on deployments and they took pity on me and let me get "bucket" rides.

I landed on the carrier on the COD and took off on the F-18. Epic.

Forgot to add T-37, 38 and AWACS.

Movies.... Iron Eagle was horrid.

Red Dawn was awesome.

Bowling alleys are first on AFBs, then the golf

Drive

surprisingly graphic

Snow White and the Huntsman was good.
Charlize Theron is wicked!

Deb and I saw Prometheus Sunday morning in OKC.
I liked it alot. Deb thought it would be scarier.

I was really upset when I heard Matt Damon wasn't returning as Jason Bourne, but since they did do another one without him I can't think of a better actor than Jeremy Renner

The Bourne Legacy (2012) - IMDb

he did a pilot show called the Unusuals I watched on Netflix (dark seinfeld meets any good cop show) I HATE they didn't renew it...check it out and ....maybe a CLC movie night in August?

The Grey

We rented The Grey last night. Thought it was one of the cheesier flicks I've seen recently. Bad acting, failed attempt at being deep and philosophical, unrealistic tale about a predatory pack of wolves, fake looking special effects. My wife was even groaning at the parts that were supposed to be scary.

I guess it was worth a buck.
