I have been searching for an answer for a while and think I've found the answer. Just want some opinions. I read on yotatech that scotty c at addicted offroad mounts the front hanger
1/4 inch back of the frame with the frame jigs all the way forward in the body mount for the 3 inch tg kit. I was just wondering if the 1/4 inch back was the sqaure tube center section on the hanger or the two ends where the leaf springs mount to. I am going to have a certified welder that I know do the welding of the tubes and hanger before I remove the ifs. He is to busy to help with the entire swap. I've heard many people have done it this way with little to no issues. The issues that were present were shackle angles that were poor but still drivable and wouldn't hurt anything. Thank u

This is the way I am going to do it. I was just hoping someone else has done it this way and could tell me the measurements they used for the 3 inch tg kit. And tell me if I need to do the measurements from the centersection of the tg hanger or the ends where springs bolt up?

Anyone else ever mount a tg spring hanger for 3 inch springs before cutting off ifs? Did u mount it 1/4 back from flush?

If you heard many people do this then you should of asked them the details. Just call a shop who do tg kit installs and ask them.

Hey cadot, just trying to get opinions, options, and advice. And so far, ur kinda irritating me man. Do u join forums to try to put people down?

Every sas build i read involves people mocking up the hangers for optimal shackle angle. Burning the stuff on is the easy part, taking it off to fix it is the hard part. The most important part is mock up before burning them on.

If i was putting you down i would of told you that you are doing it all wrong by skipping the mock up step but i didnt. You should of asked more from those you 'heard' from. Still, i would call a shop who install these kits on the regular if i were to skip the mock up step...

Yes 1/4" back from the square tube is a good place to start. I set mine up this way and when the springs settled, the shackle angle was almost 45*. 3" TG on an 86' 4Runner and it clears 37s no problem.

I have always set them up with the square tube on the hanger level with the front of the square tube on the front of the frame. While I mocked mine up only the main leaf and cycled the suspension, you can easily do the same thing with a little geometry. For the shackle, your limiting factors are the spring hitting the frame and the shackle hitting the body mount. To help lower my truck some, I raised my shackle tubes ~1" from where trail gear shows to put them. They are in the perfect spot with my davez 5.5" shackles

If you have a crawler, the shackle should be at 40-45*, street trucks will have better handling with the shackle at 30-35*

Thanks for the help guys! I'm getting very anxious for this project to start. Thinking about doing it for a very long time, and about 6 months ago decided I'm going to do it.
