I've got a DIN Mounting Kit for my CB and it sits below the original Radio just fine, but I can't see where either Radio can be affixed to the Dash.

I need Photographs. Pretty Please

You should have a couple of brackets under the bezel, they screw to the side of the radio and will hold a double-DIN unit, or 2 single-DIN radios. Here's what the brackets look like:

That Midland radio is a little narrower than a standard DIN unit, so I had to make some adapters out of some scrap cherry wood I had in the wood bin. A few sheetmetal scews here, some black electrical tape there, badda-bing, badda-boom, all done. Looks like it belongs there.

Can you elaborate on this? Are you saying that with a minor tweak it could work the 10M Amateur band? Where is it documented?

(sitting here right now studying for my Tech exam that I'm taking TONIGHT)

search cb radio mods

this is how i did it:
remove the detacable face.

unscrew the screw on the face.
flip it over and as you are looking at the back side, there is two solder pads. you need to make a solder bridge there.
put it back together.

keep it off. hold loc and ch19 buttons down at the same time, and turn it on. use the channel 19 button to alternate between bands.

i havenot done this in a long time. i feel like im wrong about the buttons to push.
use this as an insparation, and find the guide on the web.
:D

i'll look around and see if i can find you one.

this is the way to enter the freq expansion mode: (but only after you make that solder connection)

When Turning on the radio hold in the DW and channel 9 buttons.

To get to the 10 meter band hold in the LCR and MIC buttons.

To change bands press the channel 19 button.

Repeat this process to return to regular 40 Channel CB.

Now that i think back, i remeber a radio tech telling me that some radios were already modified from the factory. Mine wasnt, so i had to make the solder bridge.
So first try the above button method, as you may not have to solder it.

Just tried it, nothing happens. I guess I gotta pop it open. Maybe later when I have the energy. Thanks!
