Sweet piece!
Now if we could just import some of those OEM rear tire carriers...
You know, I've thought of that, but I suspect that the body has reinforcing to allow that, which I suppose could be added. I see the things at the scrap yards fairly often. Last time I asked I think I got a price of about 250-300 USD. The turbo diesel 81 I'm working on has one, and it is a little rough. The truck is in paint right now and I will see how well they do with it. If necessary I might swap out one in better condition.

I will add that the OEM tire rack is really, really good. It clicks into place, is very, very sturdy, and even has a locking pin to keep it swung out if the truck is at an angle. The 81 even has a switch that detects whether it is fully closed and locked. Really well-engineered.

I lust after barn doors, which I saw at the scrap yard a couple of weeks back, but again, the modifications to use them would be pretty extensive. I will see if I can find a photo of those.

Ok, now you're just torturing us. lol :bang:

Hi John,
Were you able to check on the measurements of the winch dimensions?
Thanks!

Hi KZ, I have not done any measuring but if you tell me specifics of what you are looking for I can do it pretty soon. I'm replacing the OEM bumper with a different OEM bumper ... soonish. In the meantime I took a few photos and frankly the guys in Dubai did a very poor job of engineering the attachment, which I knew at the time. Mostly I just wanted it mounted so I could ship the truck to the US. But the way it is now, I would not want to actually use it. It's shudder-worthy.

I need a pretty good sized welder to fab up something reasonable for this. I can see this is going to be a bit of a project.

any contact info for that yard? i am in need of that injector pump
For a diesel? 1HZ? I have a couple of guys I could point you to, but I don't know if they ship. It is kind of a cash and carry thing. PM me if I can help.

Hi John,

I agree that it's scary to use with the way it was done.

I have attached a pdf copy of the last pic. I drew two red lines. I just need the end-end dimensions of the winch along the two red lines and also the height of the winch from the base (mounting plate) to the top of the black cover.
Hope you get it all sorted out. I also attached a screenshot of the winch mount that I got from PartSouq and it is different from what the Dubai guys did.

Thanks!
