Looking for more info about this motor. Sorry for the cross post.. we were down last night and I thought I would give POR a shot but I didn't get quite as much info over there as I am used to over here. Thanks for any help on this one.

Motor is out of a 72 40. There is an extra hole in the head on each side where the manifold bolts up. 90% sure it is an F manifold. I was wondering if this is an indicator that it isn't an F head. Why the extra holes?

I have a '72 "F" and have those holes as well. Yes, mine is for sure a '72 "F" head.

You've got a later model "F" head - I think when they changed the head to incorporate the air injectors (9/72) they added these to the design. The head in my FJ55 is exactly the same (12/72) - as is my 2F which didn't go to the three piece header that utilized these until '79. These come in handy if you ever go to a header.

I have a stud in the rearmost hole on my early F engine to mount an engine hook, which is standard.
