im sure this is the most repetitive question ever about toyotas but i have to ask. Is there anything on this lovely green earth that gets a considerable horsepower gain out of the toyota 3vze (6cylinder)? I need more power to turn my 37" super swamper IROKS.
If you have an auto, you'd probably want 5.71 gears... if it's a 5 speed 5.29's would be close to stock, but still not quite there.... The 3.0 has very limited and expensive suport..... So the answer is no, you can't get cheap power out of the 3.0. Sorry But your gears sound at least close to what you'd want....
After rebuilding the top end ( fresh HG's and miscelaneous seals) my 3.slo was much happier with life. It hauls ass (for the V6) compared to before and gets 20mpg city even running on 33's. Catching up on the engine's PM and re-gearing things seem to be the most effective ways to increase it's performance. I've read of desert truck teams preferring to run stock 3.slo's instead of getting nuts with boring, boost, ext. just for the reliability factor. If performance trumps drivability then more possibilities are open. A trailer rig may justify HG's frequently for a performance increase.
hmm. well thanks. but my engine on has 40thousand miles on it so i dont need a top end rebuild. i think ill just wait a year or two then drop a tpi chevy 350 in it. lol
