I think the rotation is 9 degrees (not certain though) so that looks about right.



I also think that getting the motor straight up and down is the right way to go, so as long as that is right, the rest will take care of itself.

Right now the passenger mount is at the top of the stock motor mount hole, as I didn't elongate that side. To rotate it up more I'd have to elongate the hole, meaning I'd take the motor out again. Not an issue, but I can't tell if it's necessary or not.

Cool, that's what I was thinking. I'll double check to make sure it's upright and then I'll burn the mounts in.

I know you are bud, and that's cool. You'll have a good time with it, learn a lot about the truck in the process and be able to think of even better ways to fix it next time.

I like seeing this a whole lot better than I like seeing folks cut up perfectly clean cruisers to fit bigger tires.
Cut up bodies like yours and take care of the good ones!

Yup, I'll be over there. Going to weld on the transmission mounts with my little buzz box then a couple of friends are coming over to help put the body back on the frame.

Nick told me about the gift card :lol: I'll be over there hopefully around 4:45 or so and plan to get right to welding.

Or a 3000lb Linde, you would need to bring the skid-steer for that one though.

Could I wheel it over and use the Hobart? I only need to do 8, 4 inch welds. Will you be over there later today?

Dragged the chassis over to Kevin's shop and he let me use the Hobart to weld on the transmission mounts. Before that could happen though, we had to elongate the passenger side motor mount to get the motor to set perfectly upright, so that set us back quite a bit. After that got sorted, we lined up the transmission mounts and I burned them in. I'm not great at vertical mig welds, but they should hold. Thanks again Kevin!!

Nope. Having to elongate the other motor mount took a while and then it down poured for a while, so those plans got dashed very quickly. Maybe this weekend.

In the middle of the frame. My truck has a decent rake from front to back so I took it in the middle as an attempt at an average. I really don't remember though, it's been a long while since I checked. You should shoot for as close to 20" as possible.
 
Whew, that's good to hear, I was thinking about the SOA I'm doing and the rear is currently sitting around 30" on 28" tires, I haven't taken any measurements from the center of the frame but that should be closer to 20"
I might need to bring the hangers for the chevy springs up into the frame.

You can't make any judgements like that until you have the full weight of the body and drivetrain on the chassis. Set up the springs and leave them be until you put the body and drivetrain on there. It'll drop a bunch, trust me.:D
 
Yeah I know, That's why I added the "might".

Plus once I put a custom rear bumper with a 35" KM2 on it, and fill it with tools it should come down nicely:grinpimp:
Especially if I make the rear bumper as stout as the front bumper I'm currently workin on.

I'm not too worried about it, but I know I could do it if I really needed to.
