I know there are a lot of 80s in Montrose! Judging by all the results of my search. I PM'd a few of you, but figgered I'd also do a general post here in the forum.

There's an 80 for sale nearby I'd really love a fellow obsessor/enthusiast to get their eyes on for me 'cause I can't get out there right away. Undercarriage pics show a lot of rust and maybe some pitting, so that concerns me. Miles are low so that draws me in again! it was used to tow and lived in TX and CO only...
I'm first in line with the seller and am poised to send a deposit on the vehicle but wary until a specialist can give it a thorough going-over.

Please let me know if anyone is avail/interested in checking out another of our lineage!

A 6-pack in store as a thank you ~
Thanks ~

Here are undercarriage photos - maybe I'm spoiled coming from the west coast; but one of my mechanics already told me to pass on this. Bummed. What are your thoughts?

The real questions is what are you willing to put up with for working on a rusted vehicle?
This truck you show isn't half as bad as mine. I have 22 years of winter in Michigan, so I'm slowly replacing EVERYTHING underneath.

Compared to how bad I see mine is, this looks great. That being said, there are cleaner trucks out there. If the price is right and you don't mind the extra labor, go for it. Otherwise, hold out and find something with less rust in CA, AZ, NM, TX...

Don't look bad of course the cats will be rusty, I'm in junction can't help ya till this weekend

There are some really clean trucks avail here in TX.... mine ilterally is cleaner then my dads 2 year old F150 .... that's not fatal perhaps but if it's more then a DD I'd want to find a cleanre rig to start from if it's a long-term hold.....

There are several in both SA, Austin and Hosuton CList..... I'd be happy to check out any local to me and have a great guy for a PPI - road trips are half the fun ... !! I've bought 6 of my last 8 cars at a distance.

Cheers

Unless it's dirt cheap and got working lockers I say it's not worth it. Plenty of inexpensive and rust free 80s in SoCal. Rust free is worth some extra premium, I have yet to have any issues with seized bolts and that's almost priceless if you work on your own rig.

Seeing if anyone's free this weekend near Montrose, CO to help me inspect a car I really want to purchase?
THANKS!!!

I may be able to take a look at it for you, I work in Montrose M-F and it just so happens today as well... Let me know where it's at and I'll see what I can do. If work keeps me to busy today I could look at it for you next week for sure.
