Check out Fossil Falls. I've camped there a few times, nice if its not windy. One site in particular is really nice and secluded and off the main loop.

Lots of dispersed camping options in Mojave National Preserve at a variety of altitudes. There are a few spots at the end of the road to the Kelso Dunes, as well as all along the Mojave Road. Most of which are accessible not far from the main roads too.

These are all places I've been. We've probably passed each other on the trail at some point. I just had the same trailer at Kelso a couple years ago.

The desert might be a bit too hot for comfort this weekend, so if I can't get up high I might just stick to the coast. I haven't been to Big Bear in a few years, or there's always my trusty Ventura County spots that I've been to a million times. Just gotta find somewhere remote where I can hang out with my family and relax. The Sierras will still be there for next time.

Just got off the phone with a ranger from the Inyo NF. Both Silver and Wyman canyons are closed. Official advice is the stay low altitude and paved. Ugh. I really shouldn't complain about the much needed precipitation last winter, but it is seriously messing with my birthday plans.
Thanks for the update. This will affect some of our summer off road club outings in the high country.
