I'd kinda like to re gear my truck one of these days, I should have done it when i replaced my diffs, but I was more interested in having working four wheel drive than lower gears. although I still have plenty of power so I think I should just do dual transfer cases.

You planning on taking it up to tuttle to test out those new gears? If you do let me know, I've got my junk patched together and I have been wanting to do some real wheeling.

I'm going to drain the fluid, make sure everything looks, smells fine, and I should be good to go. Was just up in Lawrence Sat for a quick visit, and a taste at Freestate :D

But I'll let you know as soon as I can.

I could be whistling, confused about where this bolt goes, or practicing my Blue Steel pose.

Before tearing the front apart we practiced gleaning back lash, through the drain hole. We had to tear it back apart after each reading for adjustments and pattern check, then prior to final seal up for fipg.

So last night I drained the rear diff oil, and things looked and smelled good. My two magnetic plugs had some material on them, but not a lot, and no large pieces. Filled it back up, and once I get enough miles on the front, I'll drain it.

It's a great feeling checking something off the list, but it seems like it just makes room to add more!

Replaced the 30 tooth gear sub-assemby with a 33 tooth. Each tooth is good for about a 3% change, and I needed to correct the speedo in the area of ~10%. Simple install, only the new gear is noticably larger.

After fighting with it, the speedo is now more accurate than it has been in several years. Now I can focus on other things :D
