Skim said:Smitty's custom pinstripes- This guy ran Miller Jeep trail with no lift. Can't do that in a Heep (oops I meant Jeep).

Brentbba said:Smitty - At least you had sliders in stock form. Sam (PKP80) asked if I wanted to remove my running boards before we began. I had no lift at the time. I didn't and bent the hell out of both of them. Sliders are a good thing running Millers.
Great pics!
Cuff-link said:Wanted to say that it was good meeting everyone during this trail run. Everyone was really cool and there was definitely some good wheeling displayed. Next time we get together my 80 will be lifted and toting some 315's.... but that will result in less pictures. Can't win them all.

Like Brent, said notice the big chunk of rock I took out with my Hanna sliderssmittycrusher said:I used them and my slee t-case skid alot....also maybe even the driveshaft..... I do have a strange noise coming from somewhere down there between 1500-1800 RPM. see here for a better explanation and maybe some of you can even help me figure out what it is
. I would have had a very tight brown star the entire day without the armor peace of mind.
Smit......I want a lift
mechanic, but did you wack it?
I am guessing it is not the drive shaft because if it was it would get progressively worse as speed increased and not go away at a given rpm. Very hard to diagnose a problem based on a noise when you can't hear it. I would take a good look under the truck and eyeball everything. Check clearances around all the exhaust and all the exhaust hangers. Use a piece of wood to tap the exhaust around the cats and listen for a rattle, also ensure they still clear the slider cat protector. Since you "used" your sliders for the first time they may have moved upward slightly creating a contact that didn't used to be there. I just cut and rotated my rear cat because it was causing a rattle just off of idle. Turns out my two cats were not exactly in line, manufacturing flaw. I talked to Ken and he said that in over 100 sliders he has only had one other 80 with a clearance problem. FWIW. Sometimes just laying on the ground and taking a long look at stuff will reveal the problem.
Skim said:My rear driveshaft looks like a candy cane now, but then it matches my now "clearanced" stock t-case skidplate.
Good meetin everyone- let get another trip together soon.
I'd like to hit John Bull......anyone in ?
, which are being made in the next month by BUDBUILT (hopefully). Day trip or overnight
