Picked one of those up at a yard sale a number of years ago for a few bucks. Works great. I have one of the civilian white gas ones, but bought the military one for the cool factor.

Many a night did I spend pondering pins in a chart by the light of that type of lantern. Its steady hiss only interrupted by a battery six rounds FFE.

I have my grandfathers old Coleman lantern similar to that one, But its a '51 and the darker Coleman green, It hadn't been lit in almost 20 years till I fired it up last summer for the Relic Run, All it needed was a new seal on the filler cap and a little oil and fuel, It burns bright as can be.
Nice find though.
I'm still looking for old camping equipment for this years Relic Run

Last year our family used an old Coleman tent, lantern and stove along with our '74 FJ55 which you can see in a few of the pic's in the above link.
There were all sorts of old equipment from the 70's and older in use that 4 days in the Utah desert.

I got a few old military lanterns years ago when they were removed from my old Unit's TO&E. They worked great and I loved the repair kit located in the tank. I ended up giving them to a friend of mine that collects old lanterns. They are definatly made for very heavy duty use. I only use propane lanterns now but I do miss the old hiss from these great old lanterns. I did use the lanterns on a few camping trips and I found them to be very relaible.
