I surf the vendor section nearly every day .
Tech is appreciated , but not sales pitching .

I asked a couple questions in that post , care to answer ?

Never intended to offend , but jumping into a thread in that manner conveys not much more than a sales pitch . I'd like to see some pattern shots of those housings with the led's installed , might just be interesting . Still would like to know about the confusing pics on your website - are the shields part of the halogen bulb , or the housing itself ?

So I decided to read all about the various lighting options available currently for my 40's. Thanks Sarge for your efforts and descriptions. Have to say the Pirate light shootout was excellent also.

So does it bother anyone else that a mechanical fan that the LED's need, could possibly leave you with far less than tens of thousands of hours on these things because the fan goes out "early"?

I've wondered myself about the use of those fans . I will say this version seems to be quite robust and should last a good long time . Whether or not they can last as long as the led's , time will only tell .

Trying to source a pair of Cibie 7" housings , shooting for the version with the included marker lamp ... got an idea there .

Did you ever try these in different housings?

Lights look good Sarge!! Anyone out there try any of the JW Speaker stuff-looks cool but $$$$

I still haven't had a chance to try a different brand of housings , still want to take a shot at both the Hella and Cibie versions . I ended up putting the led's into the stock housings on the '08 Tacoma - and they work excellent . A lot of folks complain about the high beams not being very "distinct" but I feel it's mostly due to the low beams staying on when the high beams are activated . Pattern and coverage is excellent , really want to try the newer 50w version of these led bulbs and see how they compare .

I assume you were referring to the newer 70w version instead of 50w as stated in your post? One thing I noticed about the newer ones is that it appears there is only one LED on one side of the light. The heat sink/fan housing appears to be slightly smaller and replaceable independent of the light too. I wonder if this design change was the result of fans failing before the light. I haven't been able to verify if it is smaller since there isn't any dimensional information on Lifetime's website. They can be found here.

Reckon those fans a water proof Sarge? They must be to deter the spray/crud that gets blown into the engine bay

I don't have any personal experience with them, but there is this video on Youtube.

I haven't had a single issue with the fans on mine and when they were used in the Cruiser they saw a lot of water spray that first year before they were switched into the Taco . The only thing I wish they hadn't changed was the color temperature , the old version were 5500k which in my opinion was perfect - new ones are 6500k . Hopefully I can look into the trade-in program next summer .
