I have original Metal Tech Sliders. They have been through hell and back and are still in great shape. I'd get the original Metal Tech Brand. I looked at everything available when I bought them (2010) and they were the best available. I ordered a can of matching spray paint when I got them and I have simply painted the scratches over the years....no rust!

I purchased a set from MT in 2017 and had a similar problem. Fitment was such that they slightly touched the pinch weld. They sent a prepaid shipping label to return them.

Surprised by the response you got from MT.
I had outstanding customer service from them when i bought my sliders.
I think you need to call them back and explain this again/send them the photos & sketch.
They may not have thought there was such a large difference.
It is worth noting there is a difference between MT sliders and OPOR sliders. You bought OPOR, not MT.
My metaltech sliders are big and stick out further than i wanted but also are bombproof to the point where the idea of pivoting the whole truck off one doesn't even scare me.

Also not a fan of OPOR products. I have original MT sliders and love them but helped a friend who ordered OPOR version and they are way different than the MT sliders and pictures
@btslaser
send them back and exchange for the Metal Tech brand. They fit nicer than the O-POOR ones.

It's my understanding that they no longer make the original MT sliders. The website is a bit deceiving... they call the powder coated sliders "MetalTech Sliders" and the raw ones "OPUR Sliders". I've emailed and called to confirm that both are indeed the new OPUR slider design. The sales guy said that the original MT sliders were too expensive to manufacture so were discontinued. Searching for MetalTech sliders on mud reveals tons of pictures of the original design and they look awesome.

Interesting. Hadn't heard that. I believe the ones I bought early may are MT not OPOR Just looked at some pictures. Mine may be OPOR as well:meh:, so must be a recent change. Either way i'm surprised by this. I'd call and ask to speak with Mark about it. If the one is affecting your door opening, I don't think thats something they can call a tolerance...

This ^^.

I bought a set of OPOR sliders when Metaltech first offered their design for sale on their website. I had big plans to do like the OP did and paint them and put them on. I painted them, I put them on, and they didn't fit. Mine were hitting on the pinch welds.

Like some of the others that had this issue, I called MT and they were helpful. I was probably one of the first cases of this and they did admit a mistake in the template. They paid shipping (I think) both ways for a set of new sliders. But, since I didn't want to risk getting another set that didn't fit, I paid the difference for the original MT sliders because they were already coated and were a more engineered design.

I've had them now for 3-4 years or so and, while they don't get womped on (3' drops), they do get used and have taken a pretty good beating.

I like the original design and think the cat protection is the best I've seen. When I found out that MT did what @btslaser said, I was a little disappointed that they gave up the original design because it is pretty impressive. I think more engineering went into that design than just raw weight and thickness for protection.

Regardless, if I were doing it again and the original MT sliders weren't on sale, I would buy the White Knuckle all day. I've personally seen them take a beating and I haven't seen any fitment issues (as a result of the jig they've used, anyway).

Best of luck to the OP but you paid good money to have a product that should fit and the manufacturer should stand behind it. Unfortunately, it's costly to ship sliders because of their dimensions and weight, as opposed to your typical "return" to Amazon. Hopefully they make it right.

That sucks. I was debating Metal Tech vs White Knuckle. Glad I went White Knuckle, I had 0 fitment issues and they look great!

I have the original Metaltech sliders and the only problem I had was a slight interference between the slider and IPOR Pig skid plate. No issues and even the powder coating is holding up.

Looked at mine again this afternoon to compare. they're either way off on qc or being installed weird. I have no clearance issues with any doors and the photo below is the closest to any pinch welds

I bought a set of these several years ago and love them. I have beat the heck out of them and am absolutely amazed at the abuse they have taken. I recently got another 80 and so I bought another set during their black Friday sale. I was a little disappointed that I had to wait a few months to get them, but other than that, I am pleased with the newer set. By the way, they are pretty close to me so I didn't have to deal with shipping. As always, YMMV.

Well this was a timely thread. I was ready to call and maybe place an order. I think i'll just stick with the Slee step sliders. He's close enough to me that if there was an issue I could take them back.
