Mech fuel pump bypass

I used a block off plate made by man-a-fre back in the 80's. Today I would just make one and the gasket.

I saw some people mount those little small ones to frame, with a fuel hose to the carburetor, a 2FE motor.
This is the same diode electric fuel pump I run my carbureted 72 FJ40, they are like $10 and last about 10 years.
Pic is my fuel transfer pump, because holding up a 5 gallon can of gasoline is a PIA. Cost about $50 each for the ones I made several years ago.
Its fused, water proof switched, filtered, has a 12' power cord that can connect to the 12V battery or the cig lighter. 5' draft hose and 20' delivery; you can swap hoses and harvest fuel from tanks. Will also move diesel. This a low pressure system for carbs - an I have run rigs with it and a gas can.

2FE setup, you will need a higher pressure pump than just a generic electric pump to run fuel injection
if you had the 3fe for the parts, there is a block off plate stock on the block, as 3F's were around the world still running mechanical pumps

Oh awesome! Thank you so much for your help, I'm dealing with an FJ I got a good deal on, a frame off resto that they gave up halfway through. Runs and drives but there's a few things that got haphazardly slapped together.

The FJ I purchased has one on it, seems to run ok, its just one of those cheap $90 add ons. I'm trying to figure out if I should hook the old pump back up or if there was something wrong with it.
