So have a question. Was driving the cruiser this weekend and i couldn't get it to go over 80 mph. I don't remember having that issue, also i dont drive that fast every time.

I know i have a heavier truck but can remember it being that sluggish. Don't want to take it to the dealership unless you guys think it might warrant further investigation.

I say heavy because i have ARB front bumper, winch, 2.5 inc lift, 33 inc tires, steel side steps, and rear bumper with swing out tire carrier.

I have not regeared the cruiser, didnt think i would need to unless i went with larger tires and i think i have an exhaust leak which i can hear slightly when accelerating next to a wall.

Any suggestions what i should check. Or would not being able to get over 80mph be normal.

I just dont remember it being that hard, especially being a V8.

We have a similar vehicle configuration and have no problems going over 80. We were cruising between 80 and 90 on the drive back from CO a few weeks ago.

The front bumper drastically changes the aerodynamics of the vehicle.. but I would think above 80 still shouldn't be a problem.

For max speed on a flat road weight doesn't matter much. your 33s, whether they are mud tires, the bumper.. that matters.

Also if axle gearing were an issue downshifting should address it, even if temporarily.

edit: is your exhaust in good shape all the way out the back? a smashed exhaust or clogged cat can lower power output with almost no other signs.. and at lower HP requirements (around town, etc) might not show any effect at all, if there is still enough flow to accomplish that driving.

I am around 8000lbs with tons of drag from bumpers, bull bars and more. I could effortlessly go to 100 & beyond with a bit more skinny pedal.

Does not sound normal to me...

considering my 100 on 33s at 5-6k ft can cruise 90 - 95 no problem - id say theres something off on your 200.

Were you flooring it and it was just stuck at 80? what were the RPMs doing?

Ask @Reckless. He drives his 200 at 120mph on cruise control while taking a nap in the back seat! 🤣

I had it 100mph in cruise last night while watching the expendables (boring movie). I don't have armour because I like driving 80+ mph constantly. I drive my 100 more aggresively with old man emu springs. My 200 is much more relaxed.

Yeah i was flooring it but it seemed like it was limited to 80. Im going to check the intake filter to make sure the motor is getting enough air. But may need to take it to the dealership if nothing stands out as the cause.

Unless you're dragging another 200 series behind you, there's no reason you couldn't exceed 80. Any check engine lights, or warning indicators on?

The USDM 200 is electronically limited to 137mph

Connected the techstream to it.

Showing codes P0335, P0340, P0345, P0365, and P0390. Related to crankshaft and camshaft position sensor.

Not sure what that means or if i can fix it myself.

I know a few days ago, i drained the battery completely and when i jump started it, i had a few engine lights on. Not sure if this may have caused it.

He may be going faster than that

Can you please clarify, these codes are active and you have a CEL currently on? Or these are stored codes?

Ok so cleared the codes and took it on a test run. Was able to get to 90 fairly quick.

Came back and checked with techstream and no codes showing.

Hoping it was from draining the battery that this happened and ecu put the vehicle in some kind of limp mode to protect the motor. Not sure if limp mode limits the cruiser to 80mph.

Hope its not indicative of a crank position sensor going bad.

They were active codes. Not sure what you mean by CEL.

Check engine light

Edit: see your updated post. I think those codes were from discharge of battery. Those codes typically pop when the sensors don't immediately energize/recognize full circuit on start up, which was likely due to dead battery.

Do you think it limits the vehicle to 80 mpg when those codes are active?

Unfortunately I can't speak to that with any level of certainty. It's plausible. If it was running fine, as far as you could tell, and not misfiring/missing while you were being limited and now it's fine, I wouldn't worry about it.
