I have an 83 toy with an chevy 305, and nv4500 tranny. I've seen sugestions that i use a master cylinder from an 86 land cruiser. but should i run a hard line from the master to the chevy slave. and if i run a hard line how do i make the connection?. could use some help if anyone has done this conversion. Thanks

You can't just run a hard line, the engine & tranny move more than you'd think. Eventually it will fatigue and crack at some point. You need a flexible hose between the rigid mount of the line at the firewall, and the slave.

use the rubber line that works with the chevy part & just cut off the toyota fitting from the hard line, swap on the chevy fitting, re-flare the line & put it together

or better yet... use a stainless steel braided hose instead of the rubber one... it will practically never fail, plus pedal feel will be so much better :)

G&J Aircraft will make you any braided steel line you want, with whatever combination of fitting on either end.
They should be able to get the correct metric line at the hard line, then convert it to the standard fitting on the chevy slave.
