Jeez, what a mess. How can you know if they put anything back together properly?

Yeah, if that radiator went back in then that was seriously stupid of them to stack s*** on top of it!!!! Also, by the looks of that 'shop', I'd say it's the dirtiest/cheapest Toyota dealership shop I've ever seen. Looks like my damn garage!

Agreed! Every Toyota dealership I've been to is immaculate! The dealership here in Cedar Rapids, IA has a viewing window where you can sit and watch them work on your vehicle. The shop is cleaner than most houses. Absolutely spotless.

Stacking stuff on top of your radiator shroud and radiator is indicative of a lack of attention to detail. They need to make this right. Period.

I'd reeeeeeaaaaally try to get them to pay for it to be towed to Austin & them pay a Toyota dealership there. That, or pay for your hotel seeing as you've had to stay 'out of town' for all this extra time. That pic shows they don't give a rats ass about quality. Try like hell to get it out of there!!!!

Colorado Springs Automotive Technician Wins International Award
August 6, 2015

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Local Colorado Springs automotive technician Steve Travis has been named to the Toyota 2014 Assembly of Champions, the only technician in the United States to receive this honor. Travis, an employee of Larry H. Miller Liberty Toyota, will represent the U.S. at the Toyota International Service Champions’ Assembly in Nagoya, Japan in October 2015 where he will have the opportunity to learn about Toyota’s history firsthand, as well as brush up on advanced technologies.

The 2014 Assembly of Champions recognizes the top assistant service manager, technician, parts professional and collision repair technician in several countries. Travis was selected based on the following criteria:

· Dealership must achieve Service Management Excellence

· Individual must obtain Technician Excellence

· Individual must have Master Diagnostic status for 2014 and have Master Diagnostic Technician Qualification Test

“Steve exemplifies the standards of Larry H. Miller Dealerships,” said Todd Hilleboe, general manager, Larry H. Miller Liberty Toyota. “His dedication to his profession, and this honor he has received, make all of us at this dealership very proud. We appreciate his hard work and look forward to his representing us in Nagoya."

Travis has worked at Larry H. Miller Liberty Toyota for 27 years. He spent an additional 10 years at the store prior to Larry H. Miller acquiring the dealership in 1988.

“I am honored to receive this award,” said Steve Travis. “Along with my fellow employees, we are committed to providing a quality service experience to all of our customers.”

But on the upside he doesn't have to spend as much time in Texas. The dealership was doing him a favor!

Nice supercharger!

I'm guessing Travis didn't work on his LX......

If I saw a 'mechanic' (and I use the term with caution), do that to my car I would punch his teeth so far down his throat, he would need a toothbrush up his arse to clean them!! WTF! :bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

I guess it was the 'T boy' working on your car? Or perhaps one of the cleaners? Certainly NOT a mechanic!

From a mechanic and an 80 owner I am really sorry to see this. I have NEVER EVER seen a Toyota dealership workshop do anything like that to a car!

To the failure.

The most common mistake that people make when working on the 80 cooling system is the heater control. Most know it should be on hot when filling BUT, with the 80 even if you put it to hot and the ignition is off then it will remain in the closed or cold position. It is:

IGNITION ON/HEATER TO HOT/IGNITION OFF/FILL SLOWLY /RUN ENGINE WITH CAP OFF AND CHECK FOR HEATER PIPES GETTING HOT TO PROVE CIRCULATION/TOP UP RAD AND EXPANSION TANK/CHECK LEVELS AFTER COOLING.

This has been the way for more years than I care to remember, do it wrong and the engine will be overheated and damaged.......period! The 80 system is just different with the mechanical/electrical slider and valve, I guess the T boy did not know this? :meh:

Write the experience up as carefully and as accurately as possible along with the pictures and then hand the lot to the most senior member of staff you can get your angry hands on, tell them a complete copy will be headed for your lawyer unless they sort this sh*t out!!

Dave

if that pile of stuff on the dirty (!) floor (!) went back into the truck, whoever is responsible for allowing that should be fired. Completely unacceptable to anybody with reasonable work standards.

No because Travis is not at the dealership he took his truck to-- read what I wrote in my post.

Sorry, I read that as sarcasm, not knowing there really is another Larry H. Miller Toyota in CO Springs.

I am not a mechanic by profession. I'm meticulous at whatever I do. I put my parts on a table seperate from each other and clean them. Looking at the photo of your parts and accepting that Is an accurate depiction of this work performed at the dealer, It Is very obvious what happened here. That Is not the responsible man I want working on anything I have.

You own the high ground on this Issue, Try to be calm and professional, think your strategy through and assert that clearly to them. I just don"t see what they can say, you drove 12 miles and their work comes apart. I would look deeply Into all they did so you can head off more possible disasters.

Sorry to see you or anyone In this fix, Good Luck..!

I filed a complaint with Toyota's national office. Since Rich Rozelle, service manager and the assistant manager won't take or return calls; they can now answer to their Demver Field office. If need be I'll lawyer up. This is such bull****.

I could not agree more.

This sucks. Maybe someone on here can suggest a 'quicker' approach or some good inside contact info.

This Is a good approach, Do as much of this on your own as possible, I have had far better outcomes with my own due diligence than turning over my responsibilities to a lawyer. They will muck It Up. Get this out on the net or let them know you will. If there Is anyone there with 100 I Q or over they will know Its just not worth It . Repair the mans L/X.
Good Luck.!

Er.....doubtful, I support the lawyer route but also agree about finding a 'back door' however, the threat of a lawyer, and perhaps a link to this and other TOYOTA (not just 80's related) sites should provide enough leverage for them to put a proper mechanic on the job.
