Restored Toyota Land Cruiser
So fun to drive, so reliable and such a head turner – immediate thumbs up
Mechanical:
This FJ was the personal vehicle of a lead mechanic at Land Cruiser Solutions. Original 2f engine with Weber carburetor. Very reliable workhorse with plenty of torque. Everything is functioning, including rear heat, except cigarette lighter – don’t smoke and don’t care, and windshield washer pump (I use Rainex)
Body:
The tub has been replaced with a Gozzard fiberglass tub. Gozzard Composites builds ocean yachts in Canada, many of which circumnavigate the globe, and Mike devotes the same attention to these bodies (he owns several FJ40’s himself and has a personal interest in them). The body is very heavily built, is authentically detailed and considered to be the best composite replacement available. Side doors in great shape. Hard top and rear doors in need of restoration.
Upgrades/enhancements:
Ignition switch, bikini top, side mirrors, starter, electronic distributor, muffler, aluminum radiator and hoses – while doing that front nose and grill were professionally stripped down and repainted and new Toyota emblem added. Have all the manuals and a box of a few other original/spare parts.
Remarkable rust-free frame with power steering conversion and 4” lift. Five 33” BF Goodrich all Terrains on aluminum rims – 80% tread. Custom front and rear seats.
With the power steering and upgraded distributor the FJ is so easy to handle and runs smoother than ever.
The 4 wheel drive is unstoppable - never beach driven - only fresh snow on my street prior to sanding
