In the garage.
Well, we all knew, with my driving style, that it was bound to happen.
But I didn't think it would be quite like this.
While stuck with the front end in a bit of a bind, I was trying to winch out & busted the 2 top brackets that hold the 3rd member, twisted the axle assembly down on the left, bent the lower bracket & caused the left 1/2 shaft to separate & break while also busting the right 1/2 shaft.
Needless to say (but I'll say it anyway) the IFS is no more.
It's still under the truck but just barely. If the right side wasn't wedged into the bracket that holds the A arm it would have fallen out. Crazy

So the 4 runner is down till I can gather the rest of the stuff I need for the SAS.
I will also need some help with the swap, but I know where to get that. (Hint, hint)

If I get my time off for the Fall Colors run, I will need a seat to occupy.

I should have a seat, and let me know what you need for the SAS

As always Tony finds a new and amazing way of doing something that others do in a bland and ordinary way. I'll bet that during the tear down you will find something twisted into the shape of a 4.

That would totally rock, Mark. I hope so too!

I already have a 4 tattoo.! You've seen it.

Thanks John for the seat offer. When you gonna be there?

Sorry no Pics G-off but I might get some afore I tear it down looking for the part in the shape of a 4.

As for stuff I have & stuff I need;

I know I need Wheel spacers. Need knuckle rebuild kit. Need the 2 rods for the hi-steer. Need front drop & frame sleeves for the springs. Need extended brake lines. Need lock-outs.

I know I have Axel, Springs, Hi-Steer arms, Shocks & Mounts, Drop Pitman arm, drive shaft.
May have other stuff, not sure if I'm missing anything on my lists, never done this before.

Started tearing it down, (read: on jack stands & front wheels removed)
Took inventory of parts & thought about it for more than an hour!
Going to order the drop bracket & shackle sleeves this week.

Sadly the shots in my arms didn't really work this time & MRIs & EMGs are showing some pretty serious issues with my neck & left shoulder. So progress is liable to be slow.
Trying to get a plasma cutter (loaner/rental) to get it all apart & once I'm sure I have all parts I will be throwing a Tech day (help me day) at my place.

If we can find a way, my plasma is your plasma!

I'll be in shererville on the 18th...

That's up north isn't it?. I have Dr. appointment that morning and work that evening. But would love to find time to come get that. It would be so much easier.

Ordered my parts.
Spring drop & sleeves, bushings, tie rod, drag link, TREs, wheel spacers, U-bolt flip kit & knuckle rebuild kit. I think I can get brake lines local.

Brake lines... You don't need no stinking break lines. Maybe.

I cut the keeper tab off the top and relocated it to the lower outside of the frame rail. Never had an issue even with the awesome flex of the rears up front

Don't rightly know how much difference there is between the solid axle frame and the ifs frame.

Tony, I think I still have a set of extended lines I can add to the box with the hubs.

Ok. Just keep track of my bill. Don't happen to have a pitman arm for hi-steer do ya?

Thanks Joe! You rock!

Need a rear extended line?
