Marlin Oil Seal Vs. OEM oil seal thread

I have about 1000 on my Marlin seals and no leaks. I put them in when everyone was talking about how great they are. I hope they hold for a few thousand more, then back to OEM.

One thing I noticed between the two is fact that the marlin seal has an almost paper clip like spring mechanism in the seal to keep its form while the oem had a wound spring. So I put the spring from an old oem seal into the marlin and its seemed to hold up. Going on about 6000 miles on the experiment.

Marlin has already that they are not recommended on the 80s. At this point I'm curious who's fault it is :hhmm:

:flipoff2:

Here's my only contribution to this thread:

I learned in another thread here (forget where) that if you want to try to "improve" on OEM, this is the way to go: http://www.trail-gear.com/knuckle-service
Halfway down the page are the Trail Safe™ Inner Axle Seals.
Anyone have a real world report on these?
I might try 'em.
Who wants to buy a new set of Marlin seals cheap?:p PM me.

Those are available for the '80 axle?
Tools...That's just what I read on another thread...feel free to correct the info if it's bad.:meh:
I hate getting bad info here.
