I am updating my heavily modified 2nd Gen Tacoma. Right now, I am on a King Suspension lift with 12.5"x35" tires. I blew the rear axle with its 4.88 gears on the factory axle with reinforcements for rock crawling, and replaced it recently with a Dana 60.
My front suspension is in need of a basic refresh at a MINIMUM. I want a tougher steering rack, one easier on my hands (vibration, a bit of road wandering, etc.), and better articulation. I debated Portals from MountainYota out of Denver, but I have opted against them for where and how I will travel.
YotaMafia out of Holt, FL has recommended the Marlin Crawler front axle package with new shocks. Bonus is that it includes the LC200 steering rack and CV protection, along with better obstacle clearance and improved articulation.
My factory front axle is currently ARB air locked with 4.88's, and the Dana 60 rear is e-diff locked with 4.88 gears as well. Am I on the right track? Or should I reconsider other options like JD Fab? Since I have the ARB air lock mod on the front axle, I believe I have addressed the weak points there, however I am open to other thoughts for keeping it in service and at the same level of durability and reliability as the rest of my rig too.
TIA,
Sid
P.S. Merry Christmas, everyone!
