My seal failed between the marlin box and the transfer case this weekend and yes at one point I thought it was near dry so I make a bypass hose from the transfer to reduction box with great sucess but now I have a rattle when I am at high speed when I let off the gas. It pulls great still but the noise is a good one.
How hard are these things to rebuild? Now I am not 100% sure thats what it is yet. It sounds like the noise when the bearing goes out of the front of the tranny. I am just assuming that is what it is until further inspection
I looked on marlins site and did not see the rebuild kit for the
Gear Drive Unit for Right Hand Output Gear Drive T/Case | Marlin Crawler, Inc.

I didnt realize just how cheap they are new:doh:

These transfer cases and crawl boxes are very easy to take apart and reassemble, just lay everything out in teh order you take it apart. Also with the noise you are hearing, make sure that it isn't your driveshaft, as sometimes they can make a noise that sounds like it is the t-case or crawl box. Pull the rear shaft and drive around in 4 wd to isolate the noise.

the noise to from the front.........I wish it was that easy

It would be an easy thing to rebuild. The toughest part of installing the crawler gears is clearancing the case, and that's already done. I don't think you need a press, but you do need a good selection of snap-ring pliers.

speaking of bearings..........if this was run low on fluid how long would it take to make one rattle if that was my case?
How many bearings are in the case?

I went like 30 miles but the case never went dry and never got really hot?
