R151F/BF1A is the only late 5 speed, isn't it?

Not sure if it's the only .. but it's the one used in the Cruisers these days .. but what caught my atention it's this combo behind and LJ that means L engine family ... and AFAIK those motors came with light ( even lighter ) trannys ..

The LJ78 Automatics were the A343F and the 5 speed was the R151 I believe. The A343 is plenty strong, and the R151 behind the 2LTE is perfectly adequate for most uses.

Whats the recommended gear lube I had great results with redline shockproof heavy 70/250 w on my 6 speed Harley
The recommended oil from Mark's is Castrol Optimol OptiGear.

I used Amsoil synthetic in my HJ61 and it made a noticeable difference in noise when heavily loaded, such as while towing a trailer, but not that much of a reduction (that I noticed) for normal street driving.

The gears don't show much wear, even after quite lot of Kms of decent use.

Pretty sure my Marks 3:05/1:08's went in before Alaska 2006. They did quieten down a little with time and Redline MT-90 (love the MT-90 in the H55F). Over 80,000kms on them now. Can we get the Castrol Optimol OptiGear in Canada John?

Early RJ/LJ 70's had a G series box I think. Later ones got the R150.

I've got about 2000km on my Marks gears now. The ratio's work great but still quite noisy. I tried to find the recommended Castrol oil here in NZ but it was only available in a 20L drum for ~ $600 It's an industrial lube.

Cheers
