Mark,

What kind of corrected MPG are you getting? Since you're on 315s and 4.10s, how is the tranny shifting? Did you change anything on the PCM using a software like EFIlive or similar?

Sorry for this newbie question but can't you simply install the OEM oil pressure sender using a metric-to-GM adapter into the GM block?

I am getting around 14-15 on the highway.. but I drive 75-80 most of the time. Around town less, but I admit to driving it hard.. The tranny shifts points are good... I have not changed anything in the PCM. I did have the guy at LT1Swap remove the security from the PCM.

Yes you can use the original OP switch.. and I am, but for some reason it is not working. I have troubleshot the problem some, and the wiring seems ok.. I have replaces the OP switch, still no luck. I have followed the FSM and it appears the gauge is good.. So I am not sure what is going on...

That's interesting to hear that the engine is within its power band with your tire/gear combo and the tranny shifts on time. So, if one simply does the 3:1 Low gearset mod in the Tcase, then he's all set. You stick with the strong R&P gears and be able to crawl reasonably.

What elevation are you running typically?

I am turning 2000 rpm at 70mph.. very similar to what a Tahoe would be doing at that speed.

Elevation 800 to 1600ft.

Hi Mark,
Nice work with the engine mounts. I'm RHD so of course the Mark's ones bolted right up for me - but they didn't last long as the Toyota rubber perished from the exhaust heat. Mine are now heat shielded and have been good since then. I do run the stock Toyota sender to the std. OP gauge but geez it reads low. I'd stick another sender in it just to see the gauge riding higher for false peace of mind lol.
Do the LS's, mines a 6.0 aluminium, run at a lower oil pressure than 1FZ-FE ? My motor is as strong as an ox, only had 55,000klms on it or about 30,000 miles so not flogged out. Well, yet !

I swear this is the quickest swap I've seen on MUD, I bet she hauls ass! If you don't mind asking, how much do you think you have wrapped into the swap? Also the 2 inch lift in the rear, is that with L shocks?

Thanks.. I have the same mounts on my fj62 and they have lasted for over 35000 miles. They do transmit a little more vibration than I care for. The LS and 1FZ-FE should have similar pressures. I measured the resistance of the sender while it was running and it was around 45 ohms. I can apply 45 ohms to the gauge and it reads correct. It is almost like there is not enough current coming out of the gauge to drive the sender. I am not sure, but I am going to figure it out.

My motor is strong as well.. but it is a different driving experience than the fj62. The fj62 seems quicker, I am sure it is due to the tire size difference, weight, and AWD.

Thank you... it does run well... I learned on my 69 K10 build to not track what something like this cost.. lol.. but I believe it would be $6000 to $8000.

Not sure on the shocks.. I think the L shocks were only on the 3inch lift in the front.

Mark,

Think it's time you update your signature line? ;)

Love your work! Just started an LS powered FJ-80 chassis with AQUALU FJ-45 body on top. Lots of work ahead but found some good stuff in your build, thanks for sharing.

Time for some updates.. I have been very busy at work this year so I have not had time to document the little work that I have done to the LX450. I will try to get the thread caught up.

March 2016

AC Lines… I got ready for summer by getting the AC operational on the LX450.

Rear Storage
I decide to pull the real storage system that I built for the FJ62 and use it in the LX450 until I have time to build one for the LX450.

Oct. 19th 2016 –
Got the oil pressure gauge to work. It was the gauge that was bad, simple fix after I figured out the issue.
