I have replaced the rear subwoofer and all 4 door speakers on my 05 LX and could not be happier. It did take some trial and error and gathering some info from multiple threads on here. Figured I would write up my experience in case others are looking to do the same. I chose to not re-foam my speakers as I felt that the existing speakers were very old and the sound quality could be improved upon.
I am by no means an audio installation expert, but my setup has been working just fine for some time now and the sound quality has vastly improved.

I installed one set of door speakers a few months back but did not like the sound quality at all. They were mid range speakers but I felt they were too bright and not enough low bass. They sounded like clock radio speakers (flat and neutral) so I went back and searched for other options.
Below is what I ended up with:

I installed one set of door speakers a few months back but did not like the sound quality at all. They were mid range speakers but I felt they were too bright and not enough low bass. They sounded like clock radio speakers (flat and neutral) so I went back and searched for other options.

- Subwoofer is from SKAR Audio you have to wire it in sequence for it to become 8 ohms. It bolted right into the enclosure with some minimum modifications. There are some ribs inside the sub enclosure and you can literally use a plier to twist / break the off. I used a file to get to some areas. A rotary tool would do the trick much quicker and cleaner.
- I felt the factory sub cover was rubbing on the sub itself so I removed it and ordered a custom made sub cover from Ben 3D. The cover was made for a previous customer of his so I just asked him to make another for me.

- For the front doors, as mentioned I had purchased some SKAR audio 6.5" Mid-range loudspeakers but I was not happy with the sound quality at all. so I decided to buy some woofers that have a lower frequency and to my delight it worked like a charm. Turns out the mid range speaker already in the door and the tweeter was enough to play the mids and highs.
- Below are the speakers I bought. They bolted right up and just put some new connectors in.
- For the rears, I had ordered a set of visaton 4" full range speakers and again they were just too bright and not enough lows came through, so back to the drawing board I ended up with the below woofers. They sound really good and can crank up the volume with no distortion and a well rounded sound. The improvement is just miles ahead of where I started and vastly better than the first go around of speakers. A little trial and error but it was well worth it. I hope this thread is helpful for anyone looking to replace the speakers and rear sub.
