you can get it alot of places. trade name is "seaboard": expensive and pretty heavy. 1" thick 4'x8' is about $480... you can get abs plastic that will work just as well, but not be quite as machineable for alot less. it will of course be thinner...

Why not stay with the 1/8" or 1/4" hardboard and put the plastic liner between the panel and the door like it is from factory and it should last for years unless you plan on lots of deep water crossings.

just looking for something different...something maybe a little more durable then say....pressed paper!...:D....always looking for new products and materials for my cruisers....and my business.

I hear you, but piggy door hinges are not the best as it is. I'd be nervous about hanging a HEAVY door panel on it too!

"Pressed paper" may not be the most durable but it isn't too heavy either. The panels in my '60 are still OK after 25 years though the ones in the cargo area are starting to show their age.

Howdy! Seems like somebody was selling pre-cut panels of aluminium diamond plate a few years ago. Are they still around? Also, I thought there was a CAD file with all the dimensions, too. I am going to have to do something soon, as I have done a few too many rough landings, and my rear panels are badly trashed. JOhn

aluminum diamond plate would be sweet....i just know mine are shot....and was looking for a different approach...the weight of the marine panels could present a problem...i had not considered that...good point.
