OK, I agree we split the difference and make it 9:00am at the Autozone in Socorro. Take the first exit coming from the north go through the stop light and Autozone will be a couple blocks down on the right. See you guys on the Saturday 15th. Looking forward to the trip.

Nine it is. Thank you Jack for being our tour guide.

I actually did eat lunch at a new (I think) restaurant there today that was pretty good. It's a brew pub, just south of Burger King. I don't remember the name, but, yes, that's right... "The" Burger King.

They also have a real Starbucks inside. Gotta start the day with a latte. :D

OOOOOHHHHHH! Starbucks! I love coffee.

You guys are so spoiled. When I lived there we didn't have Socorro Springs or Starbucks. I remember when Taco Bell opened. You had to stand in line for an hour to get a crappy taco, or so I heard. I think BK was built while I was there too. No Wal-Mart. No Auto Zone. But somehow, I still felt like I had just about everything I needed between McD's, Arby's, Tastee-Freez and Lota-Burger. Martha's Black Dog was the first hippie coffee shop. I worked at RAKS when she was remodeling the building. I hear there's still a similar business there but it's not Martha's.

That building that Martha was in was sold and she didn't get along with the owners wife, so she was going to re-locate in Colorado but that didn't work out. As far as Arby's. Taco bell, BK they all su@@. Can't get good help anymore, every kid thinks he should be making $20 an hour. This new generation drives me nuts, of course I know that what my parents said about us. Now you guy's on the other hand have Rudy's, PF Changs, and the list goes on. Plus if you live where I did when I was in Albuquerque (close to the fairgrounds) you have the wonderful sounds of gunshots during the night.

I'm curious as to why aren't you folks just meeting somewhere in ABQ and convoying together?

hmm.. like at a Starbucks in town?

edit:
we all have different land speeds :steer:, convoy might take a while

I'm good with what everyone else decides. We can certainly meet and convoy - I don't have an issue with going fast/slow. If not, we can meet there. No worries.:D

As far as all convoying down there I'm not going so I can't really contribute, except that I understand some of the rigs won't keep up. Some will comfortably cruise at 85 mph:

So...

we are getting closer. who is going to make it? Mike, Ali, Paul, and I? The three 80's could draft paul to make the MPG more even :D

Yes, I was wondering the same thing. Just want to have an idea, also if someone is late we don't want to leave them...or do we?

I won't be able to make it this time, but I love to wheel down there. Have a great time!

I'm still in. Ross needs to get some rural interstate experience and I'll let him drive on the trail.

OK guys, sorry I gotta bail-out on the Saturday run. I really-really wanted to go - I team-teach an EMT class at CNM and the co-instructor got called out of town and I have to cover his class on Sat morning. I really hate to miss this one, but duty (and my students) call. Have a great time, Jack is a great guy and will take you to nice trails. Hopefully next time! Sorry about the lack of draft!
Paul

I went with Jack on this trip a few weeks back. Nothing really challenging but it has some great views. I might make it this time but work has been kicking up lately so I don't know for sure.

Since this is my first post on the HDC forum, my name is Lawrence. I know Paul and Jack from the FJC forum and I've met Ali and a couple of others recently out in the Rio Puerco (the guy in the blue FJC who was being followed by his better half in a yellow jeep). Really looking forward to more trails with you guys.

Hi Lawrence and welcome to the HDC section.

Let us know if you are interested in more information about High Desert Cruisers. We welcome all Toyota 4WD vehicles and have been know to tolerate the odd Lexus LX sometimes. :D

Hope to see you on Saturday morning!
-Mike-

Hey Lawrence,

Welcome to the group and nice to hear from you again. We enjoyed wheeilng with you and your wife that day in the West Mesa.

I'll see if I can get the family motivated that early in the morning!!

Hey Lawrence, this is Rory. I jumped in your Jeep and we followed Ali around Puerco. Good to see you here, make it out if you can.

And Paul....

Hopefully Lawrence can make it so we can draft him :D
