It's about time to get rid of the cabin fever!!!
How about getting together on Saturday March 7 for a Club Meeting by going on a winter exploration and camp fire lunch! Who's in???

I could be, depending on my work travel schedule. Where are you thinking?

I'm open to suggestion. Something up West Harrison? Not too challenging, with nice views (if weather is good). And hopefully not too busy either. Any suggestions? I'll talk to Bill to see if he's available. Norrish is another option, especially with the snowline so high right now.

Andrew M is interested as well.

I'm interested too. I recently figured out how to camp in cold weather without becoming a popsicle! I'll probably keep that fire going and stay the night or make my way to Hale Creek after.

Interested and will try as well. Good idea; Smokie campfire run has been on my mind too.

Snow levels back down, but that will change again I’m sure.

North Chehalis is the usual, as you know. Can be busy, but ya never know; depends on the day and weather.

East Harrison where Silver River comes into Harrison has a nice large flat area (should be this time of year) on the lake with a view to the west (sunset and sun the longest, if it’s out). And there’s the large rocky (with some sand) area up Silver river a short bit which is quite nice.

Who’s got a code for the gate to Norrish?

Too bad, would really like to have you join us. Next time!

Final plan for this day trip:
Meet at Weaver Creek fish hatchery, our typical staging area on Morris Valley Rd up West Harrison (coords 49.3244433, -121.8779314) at 9:30AM Sat March 7, aiming for 10AM departure.
Weather is forecast to be wet, but not too cold, so I don't expect snow at this elevation.
A few of us are bringing 10x10 shelters.
We'll finalize as a group Hale and/or North Chehalis; both are good choices, but Hale has the large shelter.
Note that this is also a club meeting, but please make sure that you bring your own food and beverages for lunch and snacks (not supplied by the club for this run).
I will have 2 portable BBQs (Greg will probably bring his too).
We are passing through previously burned forest, so can collect fallen material for campfire. We will bring some dry wood to start as well.
Remember appropriate clothing to keep you warm while we tell lies during lunch and campfire.
This is not a challenging run, other than going down to Hale on the tough route; there is an easier route down as well. Certainly not as challenging as the Vedder Mtn loop we do on the Gary Telford run.
Look forward to seeing you, and please tell your friends!
Coming so far: Franz, Kristin, Hubert, Bill, Mike, Andrew, Daryl, Greg, @Dirtygumboots
Possibly: Steve, @porschenut
Can't make it: Rob, Kim
Left messages and/or hoping for: Drew, Norm, Ruwi, JohnV, Pete & Patti, Ray (& any others I have missed) and will try others for whom I have contact numbers
Any Questions? I'm available this forum, PM, or call if you have my number.
Look forward to this!!!

@Ol Yeller - can you make it? I don't have your number.

8675309…🤣

Nope😕 , we are plenty busy this weekend, and I still have not put a skid plate under the GX 🙄

@Ol Yeller "You give me somethin' I can hold on to!"
What have you been doing then!? Sheesh!
We will get you out again!!!

I’ll be there and will bring some wood to burn. Sounds like 3 canopies already (a few meaning 3?) but I can bring a 4th if needed. I’ll check back here later.

Oh and we won’t be camping after all. My wife says fair weather only!!

Cheers,
Dennis

I won't have my Bque along, but will be firing up the saw (hopefully no issues, but best to have a 2nd along if anyone has room) later today before packing and will have an axe and hatchet along; get a fire going and folks can cook over the fire if they want. Will pack my 10x10. I'll also have a bundle of dry firewood.
