One quick question before I drive 1800 miles on my rig. One of my MILEMARKER hubs is broken ( IT stays permenantly locked). Can I just remove the whole assembly to avoid extra wear and decreased milage and fix the problem when I arrive home?

P.S. I'm switching to factory hubs. Milemarkers suck

i'm not sure about the removing thing. but i'm pretty sure that nothing wears in there with hubs locked and you're not in 4WD unless someone has informed me incorrectly.

The CV axle on that side will be spinning the whole way.... and turning stuff in the diff.... (Spider gears) I would either take the broken one apart and pull the guts out so it's not locked, or lock the other one so they are both turning, and you won't be giving your spiders a workout.

I would think you could gut it like 2nd gen says, but you have to have something to keep the grease in and the dirt/rocks out I would assume.
Maby put the cover on, never seen milemarker hubs beofre, sounds like they are not very good.
good luck

THANKS FOR THE QUICK RESPONSES

That sounds like a good idea. Hopefully it works out. With my CV's at a slight angle, I would hate to punish them all the way across the country. Anyone got a set of (23 spline?) IFS ashian hubs?

Check out junk yards for the AISIN hubs. If you need new ones, they're expensive. Marlin sells new ones - at $291 each get ready to morgage the house.

I have a pair of Aisin auto hubs from an '88 runner i'll sellya for $50 + ship.
