I want a Maggiolina and have been in contact with my local dealer and have pretty much boiled it down to a few models, I am hoping someone on the board here will have some input. I am torn between two models the Maggiolina Carbon Fiber in Medium and the Maggiolina Extreme in Med, I like that the Carbon version is about 50lbs lighter and think that it could contribute to better mpg? I like the Extreme because is has built in roof rack on top of the shell allowing things to still be strapped to the top I have noticed on the Autohome website that it has a spare tire stored on top. Does anyone know the weight limits of the roof rack on top of the shell? Any input, previous experience is appreciated!
don't know that the carbon fiber will make that much of a difference mpg wise....i run an older maggi and if it affects my mileage, it's not noticeable. it is however considerably noticeable over the arb and other soft style tents. the maggis are far superior with their aerodynamics
If you go carbon then you really are addressing your Center of Gravity and not you milage so much... the design of the Maggi already does that...
Getting the Extreme will only invite yah to put more gear on top thus making you COG worse and design of tent go out the window...
If you need a tent and gear on top they go with the soft shell tent that takes half of the rack and the other half can be used for gear.
I got the soft shell tent and like it but if I was to do it again I would go with just a Maggiolina on the roof rack and be done with it....
For ease of set up and take down...

Thanks for the info it does make sense from a COG perspective and after talking to a couple folks sounds like the extreme shell can only handle around 40lbs of weight. That amount of weight doesn't even support much of what I would want to carry, thus any of the other models seem much better suited for me. I didn't realize that the carbon model is in the 5000 dollar range so I may be looking at some of the others. I recently met a guy with an Airtop and he loves it. So the research continues, anyone with info please chime in all is appreciated!

Your exactly right I spoke with a dealer and he said the only reasons to go with the carbon is for a weight conscious vehicle, or COG in a 4x4 application. Right now Im not wheeling the 100 that hard and feel that I cant justify the Carbon price tag.
Hey, just doing a bit of research myself. Which tent did you get? Or did you even get the Maggiolina? I'm looking at
a used Extreme Med. Wanted to know what you finally got?
