Glad you kept your truck, we talked when it was for sale.

Great looking mod, I finally got a 60 (after looking for nearly a year:steer:) and it has flat leafs. This might be the way to go before a full OME...

Thanks for the post...

I'm glad I kept it too, I just had to clear my mind!
I was about to order $600 worth of rear OME springs to correct this problem when someone suggested the AAL. If your springs are truly flat, you might still consider a kit. I'm with Spook that the greasable shakles are a bit of an excess but it's nice to replace all the connecting gear at once if it's 25 years old.

Did CCOT pay for the MAF fix for their saggy springs? Why did they sag?

The CCOT warranty specifically covers breakage. They weren't flat even under load. Having said that, the leaf pretty much doubled the amount of arch in the pack. It was kind of always like that though.

Buytech: As for the wheels, they were around $250 each I think. I'm trying to find the invoice because it has the backspacing which was perfect. They clear everything and sit perfectly plumb with the body.

Thanks, I look forward to see the specs too. I still have the stock springs on mine and they are tired with a little of the Cruiser lean. I am planning on doing something about it next winter.

i am aiming to do the same, i baught the add a leafs and took the rear spring packs off today and looked to see how to add the new leafs in and im stumped. i baught the smaller but stiffer add a leafs because i was thinking that i could just put one leaf on each corner to get some lift back so i could buy bumpers and what not before i went for a hole lift kit, but i cant see how these go on. the spring packs that are on there have 4 c clip things that are welded or attatched to the bottom two springs and they dont move, what do i do with these? and the driver side pack is 2 leafs bigger than the passanger side i should have taken picks but i forgot. also when i put the add a leafs up to the full packs they seem to not be as wide as the others...

just questions i have that i cant find answers to
any help is apreaciated

As long as the new center bolt pulls everything snug you don't necessarilly have to mess with the little metal clamps. Without a picture I can't say for sure but my smallest leaf wasn't held within the clamps--just held by the center bolt. Remember, in the end it's really the U bolt/perch setup that holds things together, not the little straps or the center bolt. Don't worry about different thicknesses or widths, just get the springs back together in sequential order and it should work. Post some pics when you get it done!

i thought of that but the clips are about a 1/4 inch thick and has a "nugget" type nob on the bottom that looks like there atched to the springs that way and also the bottom spring is smaller than the add a leaf so i thougth that might throw something off

Ah yes the nuggets;). So if you put the leaf on the very bottom how much would it overhang the smallest leaf on both sides? If it only overhangs by 1/2" or so on each side and clears the nuggets I think you're good to smash it all together and bolt them up. It's obviously a little :hillbilly: but your options appear to be somewhat limited.

i took them to a spring shop and they heated and bent the clips out to put the add a leafs in, ill put them on tonight and get the fronts off to do the same. ill post picks when its all done.

on a side note, amasingly all of the bolts on my truck always come off with no trouble, its funny because everything looks like its stock and 22+ years old, i love this truck for that fact...

Not to be a spoil sport but do you really think that one leaf in a pack of 6-8 sagging leaves will be able to mainain the current ride height for very long? One leaf is doing all of the work the others should be helping it do. It will sag along with the others in short order, don't you think?

All of mine were damn near flat when I installed my full length AALs at the end of '05, and it still sits just slightly higher than with new OEM springs. The AALs are pretty damn thick.

Wow this is one of the only threads that I found that actually has before and after pics. Couple years later and I am wondering how they are holding up!
