I ran across a M416 while working a few weeks ago. It has a wooden bed but most everything else seems to be there. I'll have to sandblast the frame, repaint, and install new taillights, wiring, and fab up a bed. What is this thing worth?

Is there an asking price? Find out if the owner knows what it's worth, if he/she doesn't know make an offer that makes it worth your time. I scored my M416 last year for 400. and the only thing it needed to get it on the road was title/tag. You have got a lot of work to do, like you mentioned, but a good foundation to start with, these little trailers are becoming really tough to find. Good luck.

Not being a know it all but, that is a M716 flatbed 3/4 trailer. Designed for hauling gen sets by both 1/4 - 3/4 ton vehicles. The special lunette casting has two mounting spots, specifically the high one for larger 1/2 and 3/4 ton truck. It is a great trailer especially if you wanted to custom build the "box" to your specs

They are very good trailers,, with a little better frames and suspensions than the average 416.. I have seen them go for anywhere from $250-750,, depends more on if they know what they have and how attached they are to it.. I looked for a while for one,, and ended up with a 416.. harder and harder to find lately..

I'm going to look at it closer tomorrow. The tires are flat but the sidewalls seem to be so stiff that they haven't buckled. Some original paint is left but there is a good bit of surface rust. I didn't see any rot. Bed seems firm. I'll poke around with a screwdriver and see better. I think it is a good deal but I'm broke as a joke. I'll have to convince the 
to let me buy it and sit it in the garage until I get time to work on it.

Come on guys. Give me some ideas on pricing.
I checked the trailer out better yesterday. The bed is rusted through in one spot and the driver-side fender has some rot between two pieces of plate that I'll have to deal with. Besides that there is a lot of surface rust.

Offer him what you think it is worth and walk away if he does not accept you offer.

If the chassis is good I would pay $200 for it seems these small military trailers are going for more and more these days.

Also, are there supposed to be bushings at the ends of the spring packs? It looks like there should but the bushing is worn away. I have a pic somewhere...

another for 2hundy... that'll be just the start of yet another obsession!
It looks complete,, most of the guys over on the g503.org site would give thier left nut to pick that up for 2 bills,, I got offered 2 bills for my rolling 416 frame.. and at the MV show I was at rough 416 were fetching 750-1000 bucks,, 762's are harder to get and very sought after,, buy it! and if you want to make a little cash, pm me and I'll give you a name of a guy who was looking for one last winter,, I bet he still is..

The wife already knows about the trailer and that I'm considering buying it. Times are tight w/ the economy so I can't tick her off too much. Hopefully I'll get it. I'll let y'all know.
I picked up one of these trailers 5 or 6 years ago. As I recall, I paid about $200 to get it, but I put more into it. There were several bad rust holes in bed so replaced it by fab'ing a new bed (material costs). I replaced the tires. New bearings, races and seals. New axle u-bolts. Lights so I probably have put more into it than I paid for it. However, it is a very handy trailer and I have not had any problems with it since.
