The license plate on your trailer indicated Ontario, Canada and I'm afraid you'd run into the same problem eleblanc faced with prohibitive shipping costs to us Yanks south of the border. His all aluminum lid was less than $400 IIRC, but shipping to the USA was going to run $200-250, making them cost prohibitive.

I've only received one solid bid for a flat steel lid using 1"x2" tubing as a frame and a sheet metal top, supplying my own hinge and struts, mounted on the trailer for just a little more than $400 here in expensive Southern California.

You've built a lid as nice looking as Eleblanc's, but both of you are in Canada! :crybaby:

Yeah and mine was only 60#. All americain folks that bought one of my lids drove up here to pick them up. One guy came all the way from PA. I did ship 2 lids to shawn can't remember the cost, it wasn't too bad considering it was going to BC from Quebec, but not crossing the border.

For this to be worth while to potential americain customer i would need to fab a whole skid of lids, something like 7-8 lids. Then have them ship to a single place in USA on a skid. So basicly find a distributor..and obviously i won't ship 8 lids without getting most if not all of the money!

Lid for CDN M101

I am interested in the specs for the lid. I am also willing to drive to California to get it if you have any. I am in New Mexico so it would be a fun road trip.

Thanks

Hey Swampman,

Do you have any pictures on how you cut in the trailgate? It looks real clean, do you have chain to keep it from falling down? How do you keep it up? Latches... Does the top keep it up when closed. I like it alot!

so for my payback to all you guys, for all the ideas that i borrowed , stole , tweaked a little send me your email address.. and i will send the drawings of my lid .. cuz i cant figure out how to post it..

i got a couple of pics.. no chains i have a stick to keep level when open or drop it all the way down .. whichever i need at the time, it is held closed by the lip on the lid . it keeps the rain out too the tailgate is framed with some square tube.. the opening is framed with 2'' sq tube cut thru the floor and welded right to the frame as well .. then my support legs are inside of that
