M100 trailer hub nuts

Hey, the left hand side (driver side), lug nuts on an M100 are reverse threaded. Does anybody know if the locking nut on the M100 axle/hub is also reverse threaded ?

I don’t remember it being reverse threaded when I pulled mine apart 20 years ago. I replaced all of my wheel studs with 1/2” longer ones to accommodate M416 wheels and spacers back then. They are all right hand thread now.

ArmyJeepParts shows only one part number for both sides. Wheel Bearing Lock Nut A866. Makes sense it wouldn’t be left hand thread because it’s a bearing retention nut which isn’t torqued to a high number. That whole wheel assembly would be the same on the military jeep.

Haha. I’m bored today so I looked up the manual; it doesn’t say anything about reverse threading on the retention nut.

[Living in the Past]

I have a 9/43 MBT and one side is reverse thread. Made to the same specs as the Bantam. During WWII Bantam couldn't keep up with demand so Willy's made some trailers to meet the demand. After WWII Bantam made civilian trailers (T3-C) and Willy's made civilian jeeps. The CJ line.

The adjusting nuts are the same for each side on the M101, M37, M601, M615, FFPW, 3/4ton WC, and turn clockwise (right hand) to tighten, both sides. The lug nuts are Right and Left threads. The spindle or knuckle on the M101 is different than those on the vehicles above.
