Where did you find the NOS springs, shackles, etc? Bye the way, that is one killer trailer build! Nice work. I hope mine turns out close to this nice!

Do you have more info on your battery, inverter, charger setup? I need to do something similar. Did you buy the metal cases everything is housed in, or have them made?

When I was shopping for the battery i called aventure trailers to see what they ran. The recommended the AGM Deka batery. It is a sealed "absorbed glass mat" battery with about 130 or so amp hours. I paid $245 for it and so far I happy with it. The charger i used is a 6 amp guest charger. I put a shore line plug so it is easier to connect. The metal cases are sold at most industrial and commercial electrical suppliers. They have all kinds of different sizes. Look below for more recent pics.

Thanks Pint. I bought them online from some militay surplus store. I will try to find the link and post it. The suspension is the same as the early 1950's jeeps, so search there as well.

Here are more recent pics of the trailer. I rearranged the front box and put a water tank, 2.8 gpm pump, faucet and hose. Also wired 6 lights and put a switch box in.

Great job! I like this set up. I you found any draw backs to have a having a short trailer bed lenght?

Van

Thanks. No, not really. I have about 50" of length so I can fit everything I need. One thing I would like to do is incorporate some storage boxes some how. I have been looking at the Tradesmen truck boxes. If I put those on they will give some space for storage and camping supplies.

Almost done with this build. Here are some recent pictures. Here is a list of what I have done thus far:

- 3500# axle with electric brakes, 5 on 4.5 with matching jeep wheels
- Wired all trailer lights with reverse light on trailer.
- Tub sand blasted
- Added Tradesman Tongue Box
- Pre-wired Blue Sea 6 switch board (4 perimeter lights switches, 1 water pump switch, 1 stereo switch.
- Junction Box for trailer wiring
- AGM battery with separate disconnect for switch panel
- Battery charger with shore power
- Tongue Jack
- JP rectangular cooler
- 19 gal water tank with Shur-Flo pump, pressure hose & faucet
- Propane tank
- Line-X on all surfaces (top if tongue and side steps, fenders, inside of tub, outside of tub to match jeep green, tent rack & back of tailgate.
- Had front box that holds water tank powder coated.

Still on the list:
- 12 volt power for tongue box
- Install custom shelving/drawers with stereo
- Install automatic light for tongue box

Hi boctor...nice build and nice new addtions!!:clap::clap:

Your build is kinda what started it for me...the tent higher up than most and alot the other ideas too, very nice job. We just gotta get some of those amp-hoggin' floods switched over to LED's..I'll be doing a cheap LED light build during my Thanksgiving break to share with one and all (pix and hints). Love the new tongue and fender work..keep the progress coming

Thanks for the compliments. I here what you are saying about those flood lights. I do use them frequently when camping and try to watch the power consumption. I also like having that bright reverse light when towing it. I wish LED's were not so expensive. I can not see myself spending $400-$500 for 6 lights. I can live witht the 4 amps per hr that eack flood takes for now. I will keep an eye out for the LED's you are going to build, maybe I will order a few if they come out nice.

boctor12 where are you located?

I am in Riverside. The trailer was done by Line-X. I paid $500 for them to do the inside of the tub, outside of the tub to match the jeep green, the top and bottom of the fenders, the entire rack, tubing for the tailgate, top of the tongue and side steps and the top of the tongue box. It turned out nice.

awesome build, where did you buy the rectangular cooler with cover? I would like to buy one!

Does the battery charge off of your Jeep while it's hooked up...and then how many battery hours do you have once it is unhooked from the Jeep....Sweet lookin rig...where did you get the water pump from....have you thought of making a seperate intake line where you could put it in a stream or hook it to a water supply and have your outdoor shower....thanks for the info

It will charge off the jeep, but it is not hooked up yet. I ran all the wires for the jeep to charge the trailer battery, but I am waiting to buy a good isolator before I hook it all up. I bought the 2.8 gmp shurflo pump on e-bay. I have not thought about that, but it can be done easily by adding a seperate intake like you said and maybe adding a valve. Good thought, I just may do that.

This is a very nice trailer. Whenever I get mine, I'm borrowing a lot of ur ideas from you. Thanks for the inspiration.
