LX570 - realistic fuel economy?

So it is time I finally answer my own question of what realistic LX570 fuel economy IS.

Yesterday afternoon I traded in my Tacoma for a '14 LX570 with 38,000km on the clock. An acquaintance of mine connected me with a general manager of a local chain of delaerships, and they gave me not only a great value for the trade-in, but also a decent price for the LX. I'm very happy with the truck - here's to at least ten wonderful years together!

Black on Saddle Tan, it was a grocery getter for the last four years.

I filled up in Abbotsford, BC, and then again in Vernon, BC. Used 57.4L of gas over a distance of 393km between the two gas stations. Frequently saw speeds of 130-140kph, but also spent some time in the 90kph range (as I was driving over snow-covered, high-elevation mountain passes on original, half worn-down all season tires).

Trip fuel economy came in at 14.6L / 100km, or 16.11 MPG. Over the same exact route my Tacoma would use 20-25L / 100km, so I'm pretty damn happy about the LX's fuel consumption (especially considering the very, very high elevation mountain passes). And as everyone knows, the 200 is amazing in every way.

Dedicated build thread coming sometime soon...

Congrats on your new ride. She's going to spoil you and forever change your perspectives and expectations for future cars.

As MPG is a priority for you, I would be very selective with mods. Aero, rolling resistance, weight. The stock setup is finely tuned in this regard even if its not the most efficient. It's easy to build a swilling rhino.

Stock 2011 LC. Stock wheels and regular street tires 14mpg around town and 18.5-19 at 70mph highway trips. I'm in Indiana and it's relatively flat here. I just switched to RW wheels and KO2s (285/70/17). Mileage is down to 12.5-13 city and 17-17.5 highway. UGH.

I recently installed the Front Runner slimline II roof rack right before a long road trip. I guess as a FYI to those who are considering getting a roof rack to expect at least a 2-3 mpg drop on your fuel economy. I took a road trip from TX to CA with a total 4200 miles driven. Overall average I'm getting is 13.5 miles. I tried to put the car on cruise control whenever I can and the highest mpg on any given tank of gas is 15mpg. One other non-factory option is my BFG KO2 285/55/20 tires. This is my only regret getting the roof rack.

Also I tried to get the mpg reading by driving 65/75 mph on a long flat area and getting about 16.5/14.4mpg respectively

Too bad saddle interior wasn't available in the US it is a really great color.
