Bumping this thread for anyone with similar audio issues. My radio unit died completely after occasionally scrolling through inputs for a few years. Went through the FSM diagnostics including the wiring harnesses and steering wheel controls. I disassembled the unit and reflowed a few of the solder joints. No luck. I couldn’t find a junkyard part… wonder if the failure rate is high? Took a gamble on a used part from a similar spec LS460 (Mark Levinson, DVD Changer) and it worked. Posting details here in case anyone needs to do the same.

Original:
2010 LX570, Radio part number 86120-60G10, Faceplate code P6520

Replacement:
2010 LS460, Radio part number 86120-50P90, Faceplate code P6522

You will need to swap out the exterior faceplates as well as the metal faceplate underneath. My failed unit was made in China while the LS unit was made in Japan.

I don't have an LX but that's nice work there!

I had similar issues with my 2010 LX. I sold the truck before the audio unit went completely out but yes, exact same symptoms you described.

I’m having the same input changing issue on my 2010. Thanks for this thread, starting the search for a replacement…

I realize this post is old... but can you elaborate on how you swapped the faceplates? Swapping the exterior faceplate makes sense, how difficult was the metal faceplate to swap? Any issues with the LS unit? Bluetooth audio streaming still work?

I also can't find any LX units on eBay, but there are a few LS available.

Posting because this morning (pretty cold temps) my 2010 LX decided to switch inputs and puke out all of the CDs one by one 🤣

My 2010 LX has the same audio input freak out issue. Not thrilled. Definitely seems to be temperature related.

The metal faceplates are a direct swap. The connections underneath are identical, only the sheetmetal is different. So far no issues with the LS unit. Everything works as it did from the factory. If you do opt for the LS unit, I would recommend sticking with the part number and faceplate code I posted. I can't quite recall the exact details from the research I did back then, but I do remember there were a number of variations of LS units.

Ok the swap makes sense, but how do you determine the faceplate code? Finding the correct PN for the unit is easy, but I'm not seeing anything for the faceplate code.

I'd think any 2010 LS would have the same faceplate?

I swapped my unit out today because of this issue. So far so good. Thanks for the direction!
Does anyone have a pictures of the swap. I can’t visualize the face plate swap working. I trust you but my brain can’t see it. With the sheet metal difference, is there any modification needed?

Also does everything still work like the steering wheel controls, touch screen and rear seat entertainment system?

If it’s not obvious, I’m having the same problem. I have a 2010 and live in a colder climate.

Hi, This is great. I'm having the same issue. What does the final swap look like? Does everything fit back into the factory locations? Does all the functions still work, like the steering wheel controls or the rear entertainment? Thanks

I haven’t done this swap. But nothing should be different once you swap the front pieces from your Lx unit to the LS head unit. You are keeping all the LX specific parts. They don’t mention it, but I’m sure also need to swap the mounting brackets from the LX to the LC unit.

Bump. It’s started on my 08 lx570 230k . The center console with the radio goes out. And the headlights flicker on and off. The battery, crawl, traction lights lid up! This is the first time i noticed the lights flickering. Before this one time i got home. Turn truck off and it went dark completely like it had no power, i was pressing the lock button on the doors and nothing like the battery was disconnected, the horn didn’t work zero power. I opened the hood everything looked good. When back inside and I woke up! Like a crazy reset. Not sure what it is. It was raining super hard last night. When the weather gives way I’m going to check the cab fire wall plug, I had a buddy of mine that had a issue and I came from there. I’ll report back. On any progress. 🫡.

This are usually symptoms of battery terminals that need to be cleaned. They can look fine, but have oxidation betweeen the terminals and the battery posts. I would clean the inside of the terminals and the posts and see if this helps.

But also, if you suspect water ingress, definitely a good idea to check the plugs at the bottom of the A pillars. Both sides have them and getting water ingress those is bad news but somewhat common.

Will do thank you for the pointers I’ll give her a good look over. Need her for long term right now. It’s way cheaper than a car note plus they don’t build them like this anymore. 💪🏽
