LX470 2006 AHC has sprung a leak... Advice/Help

To clarify, in your case - based on nothing more than your location and guessing at the condition under the car - I would delete it.

AHC is wonderful if it works. When lines start rusting, you better have an expert on standby. Upstate NY is brutal on cars. 2 years there will rust a 100 more than 20 years in California, IMO. If you've spent 6 years up there with that car, it might as well be a 60+ year old car. Yes, you can overcome it, but I wouldn't fight a losing battle like that.
Thanks ! I have watched and enjoyed your videos; they are so well done, it made me believe I could salvage my AHC! Thanks for the reply.

mine has been in NY for close to 11 years. garaged but over 200k of driving upstate ny from the city.
there is surface rust but it definitely is not that bad. i love the ahc and think it drives great with it so id rather keep it personally.

Thanks for the reply, I am actually going to look at the system to see how bad it is, rust-wise... If doable, I am thinking of keeping and servicing. The problem is, where to get this done? Nobody around seems to know/want to work on AHC? Thoughts ? Thanks

IF you can't turn a wrench yourself, at least you can study and learn the system, in order to give instructions to the lucky mechanic.

For @gold99xx .....

Here is a "starter kit" -- a bundle of Factorty Service Manual (FSM) references in relation to the AHC/TEMS systems on LC100 and LX470.

Along with the many posts on this IH8MUD "100 series" forum, these references may be helpful if you or your chosen mechanic proceed with renovations of the related Active Height Control (AHC) and the Toyota Electronic Modulated Suspension (TEMS) systems on your vehicle.

The references are to sections of the LC100 Factory Service Manual issued by Toyota. Where it is fitted, the LC100 model shares the same AHC and TEMS systems as fitted to LX470. I have not seen a dedicated on-line LX470 resource.

General Description of the AHC/TEMS systems with explanations and diagrams of components:
(Important to read this first for general context on how AHC/TEMS sytems were designed to work -- more than 30 years ago).

LC100 Workshop Manual - https://lc100e.github.io/,
then scroll down through the index panel on the LHS of the opening page:
+ New Car Features
+ CHASSIS
+ Suspension
+ Active Height Control and Skyhook TEMS

Scrolling to “Repair Manual” and “DIAGNOSTICS” reveals relevant diagnostic and test information, etc. For example:

LC100 Workshop Manual - https://lc100e.github.io/
+ Repair Manual
+ DIAGNOSTICS
+ ACTIVE HEIGHT CONTROL SUSPENSION & SKYHOOK TEMS

Scrolling to Electrical Wiring Diagram and visually tracing the circuits helps with understandings of how things work:

+ Electrical Wiring Diagram
+ OVERALL ELECTRICAL WIRING DIAGRAM (RHD)
+ Active Height Control Suspension
+ Choose relevant year -- note: there can be some differences in EWD's for LC100 and LX470 because of the differences in trims and accessories.

The coloured EWD is better -- found at Post #420 at this thread:

Thanks, i am basically a youtube expert on AHC now, thanks to this forum and YT. If I can keep the system, I will. It's a lot less scary than I thought. The question is, rust, parts, and labor. It just got carted off this morning to the mechanic. I found one that has done a lot of AHC repair and deletes. I am confident they know the system. As far as wrenching for myself, sadly, those days are gone... Thanks for the reply!
