Update:
Last Wednesday I discovered that 1 loose bolt was keeping the tranny from coming apart from the bell housing......amazing nothing happened!
Anyways, drilled 2 holes @ 1.75 inches on the bottom of the bell housing to get a wrench in and nut/bolt the tranny back on.
It worked smoothly now I just have to cap those 2 holes.

Thursday I was going to go camping with the family and it died.
I have electrical issues again. The fuseable link went and I wasn't even able to get power to the injection pump, directly from the battery.
Anyways, it's being towed to my house now and the fun begins :-/

Update:
Got it up and running last night.
I'm still diagnosing what the issue was. At this point it looks like it may have been the trailer wiring grounding and causing my fuseable link to blow. However, I have no headlights.....will keep at it this pm and hopefully figure it out!

@mryanangel - I promise to post something, but give me sometime. Summer is always hectic and never enough hours in the day, specially with still working on my beast :-)

Update: well, I'm back on the road.
Alternator is charging and fuse hasn't blown.
Both my DRL were burnt though, beats me why.
If it was related to the trailer wiring, I'd figure that the DRL fuse would go before the bulbs?
Unless maybe I'm getting current spikes from the alternator?
I'll have to keep diagnosing to try and figure it out, so I don't end up stranded on a road trip or something!

Also, I believe I got the oil leak dealt with.
The Turbo Oil Return Line is a little smaller then the turbo (since I upgraded turbo) and the gasket I had on there didn't quite get on there evenly.....plus there was some resin from previous gasket that I missed.
Anyways, pulled out the turbo and the return line and assembled them together outside the vehicle.....which made it 100 times easier and was done right.
I believe it's now good and currently not leaking anymore oil.

Update:
Been driving this badboy for 2 months now and I have put on 5500 kms.
I went on a 1200km road trip this past weekend and it drove fine.

The electrical gremlins have been dealt with :)

I have a new issue I have been trying to figure out.
Once parked on a slope facing up (say 20* or more) I cannot get it to start. It cranks but won't fuel. Once I get it on level ground or facing down, it starts right away no problem.
I installed a check valve and that didn't help.
Today I'm getting a lift pump, (read on the Cummins forums that this could be the culprit) I'll install it and will be getting rid of the check valve.
Hopefully that will fix the "parked on an incline refuelling issue".

@bigfj62 thank you for the speed sensor!!
I finally got a harness for it last Friday and got to test it this weekend.
It's definitely nice to have a speedo and odometer back up and running.
Because I'm running 37s the speedo is off about 12%
I'm considering purchasing a Marks Digital Speedometer Conversion Unit. For now the GPS I have works great.

Wondering if that worked out for you or not. Glad to here it worked!

Update:
Swapped the Manual Fuel Pump and good thing I did. The old one was definitely done.
I plumbed it back up, removed the check valve and left the banjo bolt off at the fuel filter.....pumped it 3 times and bamm, she works like a charm!!!!
The old one, barely pumped anything.

HOWEVER, I still defuel on an incline.
I'm going to see about installing the check valve right where the pick-up tube is, in the fuel tank.

Promise to put up some pictures soon about this fuel issues and tranny fitment.
Just really busy, working long hours, playing outside, blah blah blah!

Do you always defuel on hills (uphill or downhill) or only when you have 1/4 tank?

Could be am issue with your pickup tube depth.

Could be am issue with your pickup tube depth.

Exactly what I'm thinking. Once fuel hits the lift pump then the fuel is pressurized and unaffected by inclines (up or down).

After I replaced the Manual Fuel Pump, it will still rev consistently uphills.
However, if I turn it off and let it sit it will not start (facing up a hill) until I roll it to a level surface.
This will happen even with a full tank of diesel.
ive installed the pick up tube as low as possible.

Today I will install the check valve back where I had it previously. This should remedy the issue. The check valve will not let fuel return, which means the manual pump and injector should be primed and the vehicle should always start regardless of vehicle's orientation/elevation.

@Mr Cimarron - have you had similar issues?
Did anything get modified with your fuel system?

No fueling issues. I just have the modified pump. I do have to very lightly tap the pedal when starting to get a nice quick start.

well, that didn't work.
here are some pictures anyways.

here is the check valve installed on the line that feeds the manual pump.

i have found several posts regarding this defueling issue. apparently its not that uncommon with these engines. so I have a few things to check/fix and see if I can figure this out. will report back with my findings and let you know what I check.
If anyone has a similar issue or any suggestions, you know what to do.

Symptom: Defuel while parked facing up hill

Possible Cause:
1) Faulty Manual Fuel Pump
2) Air Leak (from Banjo Bolts, Cracked/corroded/damaged/warn fuel lines
3) Faulty Injection Pump

Actions taken:
1) replaced Manual Pump and installed a check-valve on the feed to the pump.

2) pressurized the system to check for leaks. No leaks are present/visible.

3) looking at rebuilding or buying a replacement IP.

**NOTE**
Worth mentioning that after pressurizing the fuel system and blowing out all the fuel out of the lines, the Manual Pump was able to prime the lines and get all the air out.
This is really important and worth noting, because it beats killing your battery from cracking your injectors to bleed the system.

Have you cleaned out the screen on the pre-filter? I've had them do weird things like this when getting clogged up.

I don't have a prefilter on my First Gen Cummins.
I have a makeshift strainer on the pickup tube and it barely had anything on it.
Thanks for the input though, I appreciate it....it may be helpful to others.

Well here's an update:
I need to replace or rebuild the Injection Pump. That's the cause of my defueling when parked uphills.

On an other note:
I KILLED THE ENGINE!!!!

On Wednesday I was going on a roadtrip with the family. Fully loaded with 7 of us and pulling a trailer (maybe 3000Lbs).

I believe either the Oil Cooler or Oil Cooler Gasket is the culprit.

I have an other engine lined up that I'm going to pick up next weekend.

Epic Fail!
