2002 LX470.
When you shift to Reverse both side mirrors are supposed to tilt
downward to aid in backing up. I thought mine were not working
properly until I moved the mirror adjustment slide switch to the
L or R position. When I have it in the middle position, the mirrors
do not tilt. Is this normal behavior?

I also have a light rattle in the drivers door. I can silence it
when I raise the window all the way up and then just tap
the down button for a fraction of a second to slightly back the glass
off the top, Any tips before I pull the door card?

My LX470 drives well. Sometimes at idle the decorative
Engine cover vibrates on something. I've removed it and
looked at what it could be but have not figured it out.
Had just removed it as its pretty useless anyway.

Also, I can hear a low frequency roar at most speeds.
Wifey doesn't hear it. Either I have super sensitive
hearing or maybe the axles, wheel bearings, or some
other component is signaling it needs attention.

Yes, normal behavior

Pretty certain the side mirror issue is called out in the owners manual.
Someone else on here talked about the engine cover causing a rattle.

I have a strange behavior in my 2001 LX470--the mirrors dip but don't come back up again. So gradually as I reversed a number of times the mirrors would drift downwards. I have not tried putting the switch in the middle position. Does anyone know how this little ECU in the driver's door does the lowering and raising? Is there any way to adjust the -amount- of dip?

They can get sporadic with age. I don't use my dip feature often because it will rarely stay dipped and not recover on the passenger side. Useful feature so I may eventually try to figure out the fix.
