The front springs on my 45 project are way too long (see pic) they measure 45 1/2" eye to eye, no motor in the frame. The rear springs measure 49 1/4" eye to eye, no weight on axle. Are the front leaf springs on a 45 the same as a 40? How many leaves in the stock rear springs and stock front springs? Are these even the correct springs for this vehicle?

The pass. side upper shackle mount is toast, as the PO had a tow bar welded to the front bumper and the brackets were resting on the spring eyes, absolutely no suspension movement what so ever. It must have been one hell of a ride!!!!

Thanks in advance.

Tony,

The front springs should be about 42 1/2 eye to eye. They are the same as a 40 front and rear, the only difference is the amount of leaves, more in the front for weight compensation.Your rear springs look original and are the correct length.I am not sure what you have on the front now but they are about 3 inches too long, maybe a 55 rear spring?Front spring should be 6 leaves, rear on a 45 is 7.

Thanks Brian, any progress on the new ride? I would like to get some more pics of your green truck, I think that is the direction I am going with this truck.

Eric, nice catch on the spring plate shock mounts, I totally missed it:)

Tony, I have been hard at work on the new truck,I am keeping this one as stock as possible since I have a modded one already.I picked up a complete pto set up, and some split rims from georg, for a little aussie look.I need to figure out how to post pics on this site, maybe you can run me through it.If you want to see some pics of the Green Goblin go to 4wheeloffroad.com.It was featured in 06 and it is on the website still,Ithink on page 4 under featured rigs. They took some great pics and all the tech stuff is there as well.Let me know if you have any ? regarding your build. This truck has been a daily driver for years and it does everything well and goes down the highway comfortably at 75mph,just be prepared to spend, spend, spend!!
