LS Swap Transmission Question

Matt’s adapters allow the use of later model e-brake drums on the factory 40 series axles.

Just never having had one of these apart I don’t know where the common wear areas are. It seems like the transmissions are wearing out faster than the transfer cases from the threads I’ve read

I can buy a split case for $200 from a guy up here who has a few laying around his property

If you installed a hand brake on a split case with a V8 have a better chance of getting the hand brake cable to work without modifying than moving hand brake to the back axle. Those were designed for the handle for the hand brake on the transmission tunnel not under the dash like a 77 FJ40 has. Certainly won't work as well as on the rear axle. Another thing to think about when considering a budget. Always going to be unexpected surprises. Personally like keeping them to a minimum.
