So, due to the official Bonehead Move of the Week, I now need a new rear window in my hardtop. ( 77 fj45 lpb )

So, first off, what's the measurement for the glass in there ( I measured the hole, but the glass my be different...)

and if anyone has any pics or ideas about rear sliders I'd love to hear them.

I'm thinking that if I could find a truck that had a window with the same vertical dimension, then I could cut the track down a bit to fit in there, and then the sliding parts would be sorta self adjusting to the width dimension....

this is one of those projects that was on the " maybe one day" shelf, but now is kinda front burner as it's pissing rain outside...( and likely to continue until june now. )

cheers,
ryan

I think pardion knows the answer to this question. Many, MANY years ago I saw such an animal [lpb sliding rear window] in the backyard of Earl Warden's house. I remember asking Pardi about it, but I don't remember what he said. It's been a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG time.

ok, well hopefully he posts up any info he might have ( sent a pm ...), in the mean time, I'm going to be walking around parking lots and junkyards with a tape measure in my hand...

main thing is to find a rear window that's rectangular and not a trapezoid like most of them seem to be.

I may check out the RV place too.

cheers,
ryan

Yes many years ago, about 12, Danny Warden was having 45 rear slider windows made. at at least $300
each. I don't know but I'm guessing only a couplewere built. You are on the right track by just modifing an already built larger window, just cut it down and weld your cuts. HTH John

hmmm 300 bucks is rather more than I have in mind for this....I'll poke around the wreckers and see what I can find.

thanks for the reply tho!

dr claw, don't sweat it, there's a couple around here I can probably measure, I'm going to try for the slider first, I have an extra hardtop back piece kicking around that I can fiddle with .
