I had my parents' old card table in the garage, but you can get one at Walmart for about $25.00. I cut the legs off at a height where the underside of the table rests on my spare tire. By doing it that way, the weight of any gear, or me when using it as a sleep platform, is spread across both the tire and the three legs. (I keep the leg in upper right corner of the photos folded up when using it in the LC.) The rubber caps for the ends of the cut legs was less than $3.00 at Walmart.

Then, following up on a suggestion from LS1FJ40, I went back to Home Depot for PVC pipes and end caps ($11.60) to convert it back to a serviceable camp table.

Great idea with the PVC pipes. I saw those at a beer fest last year, where they took regular 6ft folding tables and added those tubes to make them "beer drinking height" tables. hahahah. And they were stable too.

Great idea for the sleeping platform. Seems like it's a pretty common trick these days. I have 2 friends that have slept in their Jeeps, but they're short, and I'm not....
